The State Fours Final 2004/5

The Doubleview team of Winton Langdon {skip} J. Bauser, S. Curtis and J. Weir { Bruce Urqhart sub} won the state fours title defeating the Cunderdin combination of Silky Wilkins {skip}, Brian Calthorpe, Ron Buegge and Rod Quinn 21/11.

left/right----- W.Langdon, Bruce Urqhart {sub, inset}, Jim Weir, Jim Bauser and Stan Curtis.

What a great game from all the players, this game was a bowling connoisseurs delight, plenty of close bowls, plenty of conversions, all players contributed to this very very high standard game.

The leaders
had a great tussle with Bruce Urqhart acting as a sub for the injured Jim Weir, Bruce won this over Rod Quinn 55/45 , it was terriffic leading by both players. Bruce showed why he is in the state team.

The seconds
also had a battle royal with Stan Curtis playing his best bowls when it mattered near the end, Ron Buegge was in it also and played his part for his side ,won the middle stages over Stan.

The thirds
had control at different times, for the first 3/4 of the game Brian Calthorpe certainly won his posititon over Jim Bauser with many fine conversions when they were most needed. Jim wasn't at his best for a long period of the game, presented himself more toward the 3/4 mark onward and showed he is a state player in the making..

The skippers
played many fine bowls However Win Langdon won his battle over Silky Wilkins, he was steady as the Rock of Gibralter in every crisis, Silky wasnt disgraced at all with his game and also played some classy big bowls.
