Section one.... J.
Trewella Safety Bay
A
hard fought win losing only one game to Cliff Graybrook in his section 13 / 16.
His team of Matthew Trewella, John Matthews and Gary Carberry were very balanced
and always backed each other up when the chips were down, they were deserved winners
of their section allbeit only just.
Had one close shave early in the section just scraping over the line against Peter
Sadelic 14 / 12.
Section two.... K,
McIlroy Doubleveiw
Kyle
McIlroy showed his class when bowling under pressure and always seemed to produce
that bowl that made a difference, rarely plays a bad bowl at anytime. His team
mates The Slavich brothers were always about the place and we were able to see
why they are on standby for the state side, Young Brad Pearce was a lttle under
done but the experience will do him well.
Their first four games were tight winning three losing one with + 3 shots, without
the goodship Kyle McIlroy's great play it would have been all over red rover.
Section Three..... Colin
Fleay Melville
Had
a very good team with Gary McCormack, Tony O'Meehan and Brian Girtig, after the
first game which they won 10 /9 against Mark Pasalich, they looked the goods with
a huge win over Justin Smallacombe 25 / 10 only to stumble with a loss to Pat
Caffel's team who had been struggling up to this game. however they steadied and
won the section in grand style.
Section Four..... Milan
Jokic Manning
This
was a strange section in terms of wins and losses It is not often that a side
will qualify for the final with three and a half wins but that is all it took
to get there. With Milan{ pictured } were Peter Bowden, Greg Fairhead and Viv
Andrews.,
Peter bowden looks likely to lift Manning out of the doldrums, especially with
the recruits he has on board.
Section five..... W.
Heldt Leeming
The
team went through with four wins and also crunching out Richo's side 16 / 12 who
had won the bowl for the previous two years. They cruised through untroubled up
till the last game where they met Anthony Provost, Fortunately for the leeming
side they had a good buffer of shots up to play with, this was very helpful as
they lost this game by two shots. Anthony Provost had a very young side and they
did very well to almost win the section
Section six.....
E. Lockyer Mandurah
This was the hardest section of the Bedford Bowl, three standouts were the teams
of Rooster Wishart, Hugh McKay and Lindsay Thorn.
Eric Lockyer surprised everybody with his great win in ths section, losing only
to lindsay Thorne's team.
His team of W.Graham R., Gibbs and R. Allister certainly played the big bowls
that are needed to win against such teams and seemed untroubled by the opposition
Rooster who has a new team, rarely misses a spot in the final of the Bedford Bowl,
had a wretched run, winning only two games for the series.
