Hilton Park v East Fremantle

This game has been deferred from February 17th until Sunday March 4th due to David Opie’s participation in the Australian Sides/Open series.

East Fremantle travel to Hilton Park to complete round 14, the Blue and Whites are now in a desperate situation, they will need to beat a Hilton Park side eager to get on with business.

Hilton have not played a Saturday pennant since Sunday the 4th of February the extended break may work in East Fremantle’s favour however they will have to play at their best to pick up some valued points.

Hilton now sit 4th on the table with 2 games in hand they trail Mosman Park by 23½, that score line appears unassailable however should the Park pick up a seven in this game that reduces to 16½, they then play Manning at home, Spearwood away on the Sunday 11th followed by Midland Morrison at home on the 17th March with a final game of the season against the ladder leaders Mosman Park at Mossies all of the above is feasible for the Park.

They will have to take it “one game at a time”. David Opie returning following his tremendous form in the Australian Sides/Open competition will inspire Hilton; they have very good strength across the green and are well balanced.
Hilton can’t take the Blue and Whites easily who are due a win and Hilton will have to guard against this,

the result Hilton Park 7 /1.

PREVIEW ONE BLUE SOUTH ROUND FOURTEEN

Mosman Park v Victoria Park

One of the games of the round, Mossies coming of a loss to Melville while the Vic Park side had a weeks break having played Hilton Park on Sunday the 4th due to state representation.
Will the week off freshen up the Reds or will the surprise loss to Mossies sting them into action?

Peter Cole Mosman Park (pictured) Has has a good season playing as skip

At Melville last Saturday, Mosman Park won on three rinks but could not cover the damage on the losing rink, for the Reds, they lost on three rinks heavily, they will need to keep Mossies in check from the first end or their fourth spot on the table will go.

The result won’t be a walk in the Park for either side; in the first round Vic Park won by one shot courtesy of Nev Young, this time around Mossies will avenge that defeat with an emphatic win

the result will be Mosman Park 7 / 1.

Carlisle Lathlain v Melville

Carlisle return home to host Melville following a narrow loss to Rockingham last week, while Melville will be looking to continue with the good form they showed last week when they beat the ladder leaders in a tight contest.

Melville will not be fazed by the Carlisle greens both clubs boast some of the best greens in W.A. Carlisle is still in the danger zone and Melville is also not safe, this game is extremely important for both teams a loss to either will again place them in jeopardy.
Melville is swinging the changes to bolster the rinks while Carlisle are quite stable,
Melville appears stronger across the rinks
the result will be Melville 6 / 2.

Hilton Park v East Fremantle

Hilton Park host East Fremantle, this game will be delayed (to be played on Sunday 4th March) due to state representation.
The Park will be coming off a good win against Vic Park, East Fremantle battled strongly against Manning last week only losing the game on one rink. The Park will welcome back David Opie (playing for West Aust in the Aust Sides Championship in Tassie)

The Blue and Whites will be fighting to save themselves from relegation and a win against the Park would set them up for a good finish to the season. Hilton want to stay in touch with the ladder leaders they will be playing both Spearwood and Mossies in the coming weeks and still fancy themselves a chance of finishing on top, Hilton at home will be too strong for the Blue and Whites; they will lift for David Opies return

the result will be Hilton Park 7 / 1.

Manning Eagles v Spearwood

Manning hosts Spearwood for what promises to be the game of the day. In the first round Spearwood won by 4 shots the Eagles will be looking for revenge, this time around Manning are coming of a good win over a struggling East Fremantle and likewise Spearwood overcame a besieged Midland Morrison.

Manning sit fifth on the table one point behind Vic Park, Spearwood are three behind the ladder leaders Mosman Park, a win to Manning will give them a break over Vic Park while Spearwood will want a win to keep the pressure on Mossies.

The cornerstones for the Eagles, Milan Jokic and James Jaworski have had a few quiet weeks, expect them to fire up for this encounter.

For Spearwood Boris Yakas and Marin Sokol are the form skippers if these four skippers go head to head it will be worth the price of admission. The reorganised Eagles in their nest at home are always a tough prospect but Spearwood have made changes that appear to be working.

The result will be close Spearwood 5 / 3.

Midland Morrison v Rockingham

Rockingham will have the longest trip up the Roe Highway to Midland Morrison; Midland didn’t enjoy the trip to Spearwood on the Roe last week will Rockingham?

Rockingham in the first round trounced the Midland team at home; Midland will be looking to repay that in kind. Midland’s greens are not over endowed with speed so the Rocky boys will have to adjust quickly or will be playing catch up from the first end.

Midland has a stable line up while Rockingham is renowned for its established sides, Midland must win to escape the drop zone while Rockingham pride themselves on finals involvement (they did play off for the flag last year against South Perth), this game will be played in two halves the first half Midland will dominate and the second half Rockingham will claw back the lead,

the result will be Rockingham 6 / 2.
