REVIEW ONE BLUE SOUTH ROUND ELEVEN
Victoria Park 100 (8) d Spearwood 59 (0)
Top of the table Spearwood travelled to Vic Park and were humbled by a red-hot
Park. (second week in a row the top side has faltered),
The Reds reorganised
their rinks and the dividens paid handsomely, the Park now sit in the top
four at the expense of Manning.

For the Reds Brenton Scott (35 to 12) against Boris Yakas was unstoppable,
his control from the first end was impeccable; he was given tremendous starts
by his lead Dennis Eastcott also by the second George Beacroft and by the
third Jim Holland.

The other major winner on the day was Nev Young (26 to
11) against Tonko Fiamengo Nev had a new lead, first game player Mike Adams
who led brilliantly all day Noel Staude and Steve Venables provided tremendous
support as well.
Neville jumped out to a 12-0 lead by the 5th end and never
was troubled from that point on.
The other two rinks were much closer with Rod Volich (23 to 21) against Ivan
Unkovich winning his game on the last end, Sam Perica as lead for Ivan drew
two bowls each side of the jack the opposing lead Kelvin Pearce drove with
his second bowl to see the jack into the ditch with his toucher beside it,
Rod’s guys added another three close to the ditch to win the game by 2.
The
last game between Craig Parnham (16 to 15) against Marin Sokol was a tight
tussle all day, the lead changed on five occasions coming down to the final
end Craig held a 3 shot lead, the Spearwood boys held three shots to draw
the game but Phil Long (Craig’s third) cut the advantage to two to enable
a one shot win to the Park.
Mosman Park 89 (7) d Carlisle Lathlain
80 (1)
Mosman Park travelled to Carlisle desperate to conquer the slick greens and avenge last weeks shock defeat to Midland Morrison.
John Rainoldi’s game against Angelo Scaini was tight early before Rainoldi’s rink put the foot down to skip away to a comfortable 16 shot win. Doug Rogers and Peter Cole’s rinks were involved in two hard fought encounters against the rinks of john Henderson and Tony Dibello’s with both prevailing narrowly by 3 shots.
Carlisle’s only winner on the day was the rink of Bob Simms, Frank Giancristofaro,
John Sheridan and Hans Nebel who easily accounted for the formidable Mossies
combination of Mortimer, Ferris, Evans and Felton by 13 shots.
The large win by Bob Simms ensured the aggregate was always tight with Mossies
only gaining the upper hand in the final 3-4 ends. Carlisle showed enough
throughout the encounter to suggest they will fight doggedly until the end
to avoid relegation.
Mosman Park’s victory was made all the sweeter by the shock defeats of their
nearest rivals Spearwood and Hilton Park giving the club some breathing space
at the top of One Blue South.
Melville 83 (4) draw Manning 83 (4)
Melville and Manning fight out an exiting draw, both teams are looking for some impetus in the second half of the season.
For Melville the return of John Trewhella (26 to 19) against Brian Jepperson was a match winner, Gary McCormack (19 to 16) proved the victor over Milan Jokic, Milan couldn’t continue his excellent form this week that has enabled him to dominate in past weeks.
For Manning James Jaworski (29 to 20) was too strong on the day for Nev Brierley, and Bill Pingilly (19 to 18) won by the narrowest of margins over Allan Keating skippering in the absence of Brent Alexander (promoted to Red Division).
Rockingham 76 (7) d Hilton Park 67 (1)
Rockingham kept its final four hopes alive with a solid win over Hilton Park.
For Rockingham the continued good form of John Lethlean’s rink is very important with Brian Morgan, Brian Lethlean and Mal Peters (who led superbly) jumping to a good lead over David Opie and eventually running out winners (22 to 14).
That's four wins in a row now for John and his team.
Rockingham’s most consistent team skippered by Keith Gould (17 to 14) got back in the winners list with a hard fought victory over Eddie Clarke.
Adding Bob Costello as third to Steve Wales had the desired effect with a good win over Travis Simpson’s rink (25 to 19) even though scores were tied on the 16th end.
For the Park Norm Ball was always in the lead throughout to defeat Watson McIlveen (20 to 12).
Midland Morrison 86 (5½) d East Fremantle 85 (2½)
East Fremantle travel to Midland and loose narrowly to a stronger Midland
Morrison.
For Midland Gary Willis (26 to 13) was too strong on the day for Gary Mitchell
the margin guaranteed Midland the aggregate.
David Rhodes drew (24 to 24)
with Reg Bullen.
For East Fremantle John Brewer (25 to 14) had a good win over John Snell to almost
snatch the game from Midlands grasp, and Bruno Zarins (23 to 22) won by the
narrowest of margins against Martin Wattleworth.
