Review One Blue South Round 5

Victoria Park 77 (5) d Mosman Park 76 (3)

Victoria Park upset the highly fancied Mosman Park team to record a narrow win. Neville Young won convincingly by 14 to ensure an aggregate win by the home side, together with a fight back by Rod Volich to reduce the damage by the powerful John Rainoldi side.

Craig Parnham (the undefeated skipper from 2 Division last year) ensured a win for the home team by going down by the slimmest of margins one shot against Doug Rogers. Both Neville and Craig were required to play match defining shots on their closing ends to ensure a home team victory.

Melville 97 (7) d Carlisle-Lathlain 73 (2)

Melville record their first win of the season, this team will improve as the season unfolds; they await the arrival of two quality players to boost their current squad.

Strong wins by Brent Alexander and Colin Fleay ensured the home side a much-needed victory. Neville Brierley recorded a 3 shot win to round out a good day for the Melville Magic.

Hilton Park 82 (6) d East Fremantle 68 (2)

A home win to Hilton Park to comfortably maintain its presence in the top four. Travis Simpson had a sound win over Gary Mitchell, together with Norm Ball clinched the aggregate win for Hilton Park.
Bruno Zarins with his side strengthened by the return of Reg Bullen fought back to record a creditable 6 shot win over Eddy Clark. While the ever-reliable Dave Cotton over came a never say die David Opie for a 1 shot win.

Spearwood 79 (6) d Manning 75 (2)

A closely fought game with Spearwood maintaining its great start to the season to record its 5th win from 5 starts.
Tonko Fiamengo racked up his 5th straight victory; this side has jelled very well with two new faces in the side while, the Marin Sokol side recorded its first win (following 2 draws and 2 losses) against the previously unbeaten Bill Pengilly.

Milan Jokic with Peter Bowden leading won a tight fought tussle against the previously unbeaten Boris Yakas the game was much closer than the score suggests with Milan scoring a 4 on the last end to give Manning a chance at the aggregate.
Italo D’Asenczo and Greg Fairhead battled all day with the scores very close, Greg finally proving the victor on the day.

Rockingham 92 (7) d Midland – Morrison 60 (1)

Rockingham cruises to victory against a besieged Midland – Morrison. The Rockingham team were far too strong for the visitors, an expected result as many of the Midland side would not have been to Rockingham before; they will look forward to a rematch when Midland host Rockingham in the New Year.
