Review One Blue South Round 6
Vic Park 97 (8) d Carlisle-Lathlain 61 (0)
The visiting Vic Park enjoyed the fast paced greens and was too strong for home side Carlisle Lathlain.
Brian Banfield had a good tussle with the Tony Dibello rink to win by 3 shots, Craig Parnham set up the strong win by the Park by easily accounting for the Angelo Scaini rink by 16 shots.
Neville Young Vic Park (pictured) Enjoying the skippers role
Nev Young played strongly all day to win by 6 over Dennis Green, and Rod Vollich rounded out the strong performance by 9 shots over John Henderson.
Mosman Park 89 (7) d East Fremantle 68 (1)
Mosman Park moves to the top of the table with a strong performance and unveil
a new player.
Reg Bullen returned as skipper for his third game back. His opponent was John
Rainoldi who led 15 to 4 after 12 ends. Reg and his rink battled on to be
17 to 18 on the 20th end. With one bowl to be played (Rainoldi), Reg's rink
held 3 shots, however Rags wrested the shot bowl with his last to win by
2. A great game against an opposition that included Radd Anderson for his
first game with Mosman Park.
Dave Cotton's rink also had a good game with
nothing in the score after 8 ends. His opponent broke away for a seven shot
lead after 15 ends; Dave's rink won the next five ends to be 1 down on the
last end. Unfortunately, they lost a two on the last end to lose by 3.
Gary Mitchell's rink battled their opponents and the wind all day, winning six
ends for the game, before losing 28 to 7.
The only winning East Freo rink ( B Zarins) had a 11 to 1 lead after five ends
before they lost the next 5 ends ( including a seven) to be down 16 to 11.
The game tightened after that to be 19 all after 16 ends. The Bruno’s rink
then won four of the last ends to win 25 to 20.
Rockingham 81 (7.5) d Melville 65 (.5)
Rockingham at home too strong for the Melville Magic to keep in touch with the leaders.
The Melville rink of Gary McCormack drew with John Lethlean to give Melville their only joy for the day, while the Steve Wales rink cruised to victory over Colin Fleay to set up the comfortable win for Rockingham.
Keith Gould had a close encounter with Brad Alexander to win by 2, while Watson Mcilveen with a very good last bowl accounted for Nev Brierley by 3 to round out a strong performance by Rockingham.
Manning 81 (6) d Midland-Morrison 68 (2)
The game was played at Midland-Morrison’s home ground on a 14 second green.
Early on the aggregate was close until, on the sixth end, James (Leyton) Jaworski’s rink of Terry Finlayson, Steve Salamon and Peter Ker picked up eight shots. The rink went on to win comfortably 26-10.
Skipper George Tibbles played some good saving bowls at times.
The situation was a lot tighter on the other three rinks with very good bowls being played by players from both sides.
Milan Jokic’s solid lead was whittled away over the course of the afternoon by the Rhodes side.
On the twentieth end Greg Fairhead’s rink was holding three a three shot lead. When Greg crossed over on the last end, he was five shots down. With his first bowl he drew shot only a few centimetres away from the jack and remained there to give him a four shot win.
Hilton Park 89 (7) d Spearwood 74 (1)

A strong home win for Hilton Park over the previously unbeaten Spearwood side to move into third place on the table. The green at Hilton was in top condition, with a strong sea breeze making it challenging for all players.
Eddy Clarke played brilliantly all day, converting and adding shots to overcome the unbeaten rink of Tonko Fiamengo, while Travis Simpson with Luke Garbut playing third provided the platform for a convincing win over Spearwood by defeating Italo D’Ascenzo’s rink by 11 shots.
Lindsay Muter Hilton Park (pictured) playing three to the brilliant David Opie,
Lindsay has been a very good player when at Cockburn and was r/u in the Royal
Park Masters singles.
Norm Ball with son Brad playing third narrowly beat a strong finishing Boris Yakas by 1 shot, while Marin Sokol and David Opie fought out a close game with Marin winning by 3 shots to record Spearwood’s only win for the day.
