THE OBSERVER
ONE WHITE PREVIEW ROUND FIFTEEN
March 9, 2006
Gosnells v Kalamunda
A very important game and Gosnells will be keen to repeat their away win
(by 3 shots) in the first round. Kalamunda have won their last four games
whilst Gosnells have won three, losing by 1 shot to Morley in the other.
Rick Eddy Kalamunda (pictured) Been a handy skip for the team from the Hills
Gosnells have used twice as many skippers as Kalamunda for the season, 10
to 5 can thank Bert Cruickshank and the members of
that rink for the
position they hold at the moment. If Gosnells win, they could finish in the
top two
as
their
last
three
games
are against
teams
in
positions
6th,
7th and 9th,
with
two
away
games, whilst Kalamunda has two home games playing against teams 4th, 5th
and 8th on the table.
Without confidence I select Gosnells to win
Kardinya v Innaloo
Kardinya won all 8 points away in the first round, are hanging in there and
will be looking to repeat this score to keep alive their chances of a top four
finish.
The rinks of Tony Cocodis which has done fantasticly well
and not to forget the other rink, Terry Ball's.
Innaloo have
received a few hidings, however they have the satisfaction of knowing their
next team, the 3rd division will comfortably finish in the top three.
Kardinya
have slipped since being in 2nd position at the conclusion of round 1, however
they meet three of the four bottom teams in their final four games and will
be aiming to finish in the top four.
Kardinya have plenty of motivation to win decisively and should do so.
North Beach v Scarborough
Scarborough won 6/2 in the first round but North Beach has the home ground
advantage this time. A win to Scarborough would consolidate their position
in White and conversely, a loss to North Beach would see them struggle to
avoid demotion as they have two away games of their last three against teams
above them.
A toss of the coin situation and it came down North Beach as my tip.
Safety Bay v Warwick
Safety Bay at home will be out to avenge their 1/7 loss when the teams first
met. The big rinks at Safety Bay, those of Matt Massari
along with Alan Holmes(skip)Beumont Stockton and leader Dave Goddard have
made winning of a flag a real possibility for a Safety Bay
A loss for Warwick who been well served by the Brilliant rink of Alan Hogarth,
would realistically end they finals four aspirations as they meet Morley
and
Gosnells
for their
final
two
games,
after
meeting
North Beach at home. A win to Safety Bay, who are yet to play Innaloo this
round, will see them stay well and truly in the fight for a finals appearance.
Safety Bay with the home ground advantage is my selection.
Thornlie v Morley
Morley walloped Thornlie 107/53 for 8 points in round 1 but playing at home
and desperate to avoid relegation Thornlie who were well beaten last week
by Safety Bay will be expected to fight hard. Morley are running hot (
skippers Aungier and Armstrong are the rinks that are leading the way),
having picked up 22 of a possible 24 points in their last three games, which
included
an
away
win
by
1 shot against
Gosnells.
Morley
has a
percentage
superior to only three other teams in the competition, so they must be winning
the games that count.
I am tempted to pick Thornlie but last weeks effort has me thinking, but as
this my debut in selecting winners, I am going to be conservative and choose
Morley.
