THE OBSERVER
ONE WHITE PREVIEW ROUND EIGHTEEN

March 30, 2006
Introduction
The fight for the finals:

1 Kalamunda 82 -------home to Safety Bay 78˝
2 Gosnells 80 ---------.-away to Warwick 70
3 Morley 79˝---------- away to Innaloo 21˝
4 Safety Bay 78˝ ------away to Kalamunda 82
5 Kardinya 76 ---------.away to North Beach 53˝

Sticking my neck out, I predict Kalamunda to host the finals, which in turn will mean Kardinya will replace Safety Bay in the four.

Innaloo v Morley
1st round Morley 93 (7) d Innaloo 60 (1)
On paper Morley 79˝ points are expected to defeat the bottom team, Innaloo 21˝ points. Two rounds ago Innaloo won at home, playing Thornlie – yes, the same Thornlie who defeated Morley three rounds ago by 40 shots, not forgetting Thornlie’s win over Kalamunda last round.
A loss could see Morley out of the four, whilst a win cements their place and perhaps will give them the opportunity for a top two finish and the double chance.
.Morley will be looking for the rinks of Peter Aungier and John Armstrong to lead the way to victory
My tip is Morley. .

Kalamunda v Safety Bay
1st round Kalamunda 86 (8) d Safety Bay 74 (0)
A game is not an appropriate word to describe this clash. A win to Kalamunda and most likely automatic promotion, whilst a loss could see four teams go past them and give the club one of their most demoralizing conclusions to a season. Will any rink at Kalamunda be able to contain Matt Masari's rink and Alan Holmes's rink comes into this also
Safety Bay doesn’t perform too well away from home and a loss will bring their season to an abrupt end after being 2nd at round 15.
Kalamunda to win if they can get the Rick Eddy rink to fire up and Neil Payne's boys to play to their best form, then they will most probably gain a promotion to 1 Red before the finals begin.

North Beach v Kardinya
1st round Kardinya 92 (8) d North Beach 64 (0)

The only win North Beach has recorded in the second round was that against Innaloo. Kardinya will be desperate for a victory and hope other results will fall their way to enable a return to the top four. Kardinya like all other top four aspirants, have been inconsistent,Tony Cocodis's rink have been of the boil and will need to get back on track for this game, however, such an important fixture must bring out their best and I predict Kardinya to take the majority of points.

Scarborough v Thornlie
1st round Thornlie 84 (7) d Scarborough 76 (1)

Both teams had good wins last week, Ron Kuziela beating the leading rink in One White, that of Tony Cocodis was a hi-light of that game, however this game is for bragging rights only. Scarborough will have to go back to the drawing board because the talent they have at their disposal has not produced the expectations they had at the beginning of the season.
A win to Thornlie, who has found the going tough in this division, will possibly see them finish as high as 6th place, which will be an improvement on 9th at the end of round 1.
Scarborough has the home greens advantage, but I am tipping Thornlie.

Warwick v Gosnells
1st Round Gosnells 83 (7) d Warwick 81 (1)

A great win by Warwick away to Morley last week will make Gosnells well aware that 2nd v 7th has no real significance. B Cruiskshank has joined Matt Massari as equal top 1 White skipper and will look forward to leading Gosnells to a victory. Other teams winning assisted Gosnells last week and now they have to help themselves, which I believe they will.
