Murray's Preview on One Blue North.
Round Four
November 24, 2005
Another very interesting round in One Blue North this Saturday.
As only the team finishing on top after the home and away season wins promotion
from this division (the negative being that the finals series is basically
a waste of time) we already have the position that after three rounds the top
side had a 2-1 win/loss ratio whilst the 9th side has a 1-2 win/loss ratio.
From past years results you must have either a 14/4 record or if you are fortunate
a 13/5 win loss ratio to finish on top. This means that with the season still
in its infancy stage that there is not much room for error for ANY team.
An early example of how even the season is can be illustrated by the following
- Rd 1 Bassendean d Dalkeith, Rd 2 Cambridge d Bassendean, Rd 3 Dalkeith d
Cambridge.
GAME OF THE DAY
Sorrento vs Cambridge - This is one that both sides just have to win. Both
sides are at 1/2 and another loss makes finishing on top almost impossible.
In horse racing parlance Sorrento had their game won against Doubleview everywhere
except the shadow of the posts. Cambridge on the other hand were well beaten
by Dalkeith last week after defeating one of the favourites (Bassendean) the
week before.
It is time for players like Ian Linford (the clubs current singles, pairs and
fours champion) Phil Kimberley, Ray Beard, Neil Adams, Mike Carrighly and the
four skippers Hammond, Anderson, Collins & Murray to show some true leadership
and "step up to the plate" for the Swans to defeat a talent laden
Knights led by players of the calibre of John Dawson, Lindsay Bennett, Keith
Cannon, John Hawkes, Jim Gupanis, Martin Saunders Neil Bolton and the like.
Sorrento 6-2 in a ripper.
Osborne Park V Doubleview Ossy Park will rebound
and defeat Doubleview but firstly they will have to overcome the unbeaten John
Nicholls.
6-2.
Morrison Park V Bedford Morrison Park will rebound
and defeat Bedford this week. Morrison Park have two undefeated rinks in Nattalotto
and Wattleworth and with some
assistance
from the other rinks will just get the chocolates. 6-2.
Bassendean V Sportsmen's Bassendean
will defeat Sportsmen's because of their all round evenness. However, Sporties
will not
make it easy
and have already proved a
credit to
themselves.
6-2
Norm Kirkup (pictured) doing a great job leading for Bassendean
Dalkeith V Nollamara On exposed form you could write your own ticket about
Nollamara beating Dalkeith. Surely Nollamara will win on a rink. Dalkeith 7-1.
