Murray's Preview on One Blue North.
Round Nine

January 12, 2006
This weeks round of fixtures is really "make or break" for many clubs. A win keeps hopes alive whilst a loss will be the start of nailing the coffin.

GAME OF THE DAY
Bassendean vs Sorrento

The third placed Swans fly down to play fourth placed Bassendean in what is the game of the day.

Recent form would suggest Sorrento (who have amassed 21 points out of a possible 24 in the last three weeks) have the form to defeat Bassendean who have lost their last two. However, at Bassendean and coupled with the talent they have in their side this will count for nothing. Having said that, Sorrento are not bereft of talent either and the winner of this game will come down who is mentally stronger and who wants it the most.

Sorrento 6-2 in what should be a terrific game.

Cambridge vs Osborne Park

First placed Osborne Park travel to take on a Cambridge side that simply must win to have any hope to remain in the race. Given Cambridge's performances this year I am starting to wonder if I have overrated them. They appear to be brimful of talent but constantly disappoint. They will have to be at the top of their game to take it up to Osborne Park whose class is unquestioned. I do not have any idea why I am doing this but I am going to select Cambridge

Cambridge 6-2 in a boilover.

Dalkeith vs Morrison Park

As certain as Bob Dylan is the greatest living rock legend of our time (according to this writer in any case) Dalkeith will bounce back hard after losing at Osborne Park last week. Whilst Morrison Park have some very good players in Joe Rollinik, Steve Wattleworth and others, I cannot see them being a match for Dalkeith at home.

Dalkeith 8-0

Nollamara vs Doubleview

To their credit Nollamara are improving every week after what can only be described as a catastrophic start to the season but I cannot realistically see them beating Doubleview. A loss to Doubleview will finish their season and I am sure they are aware of that fact.

Doubleview 7-1

Sportsmen's vs Bedford

On what I saw last week there is not a lot of positive things I can say about Sporties. They will have to be much more disciplined if they are going to cause Bedford any concern. Bedford are like about five other clubs in the competition at the moment knowing they will have to string together five or six wins to get close to Osborne Park or Dalkeith in the quest for that elusive promotion.
