Murray's Review on One Blue North.
Round TEN
January 31, 2006
Sorry about the lateness. I was at the St Ives yesterday.
What a round of upsets. I am glad I was at the bowls rather than the races
because the way I selected my teams, my wife (Michelle) and I would be living
in a tent from this week onwards. 1 out of 5.
GAME OF THE DAY

NORAC TURNS UP HEAT AS DALKEITH WILT.
For the second time this season Tom Norac and his very good rink have taken
Dalkeith apart. Tommy doesn't care who the name or reputation is either. First
time round it was Dinko Golem and this time Mark Krajancic was on the receiving
end. Tom was well supported by John Lynch who had a five shot rink over a
very good player in Tony Skoric. For the home team Dinko and John O'Meehan
continued their excellent form with solid wins.
Steve Trowl Bassendean (pictured) won the State Novice
singles last year and doing a great job leading for Tom Norac.

DAVID SLEW GOLIATH
Congratulations Nollamara. In what I consider to be the upset of the season,
not only did Nollamara win but by a whopping 38 shots. Jeff Post and his team
humiliated Dante Mariani to the tune of 38-8 whilst Brian Saul was equally
impressive with a 28-9 over Keith Guelfi. The defeat could be a good thing
in the long term for Osborne Park but I do not know why so many changes were
made to the rinks. It certainly worked against them this week.
Cambridge (6) def Morrison Park (2)
KINGS OF CARPET PREVAIL
On their home carpets Cambridge produced some of the form I have been expecting
all year. The Cambridge win was set up by Lindsay Bennett and his rink over
the talented Steve Wattleworth. Lindsay would be pleased because his team have
been a little inconsistent this year. John Dawson also returned to the winners
list. Joe Rollinik and Tony Nattalotto won for the visitors.
SPORTSMEN'S (7) def DOUBLEVIEW (1)
SHARK ATTACK AT MT LAWLEY
Mark "Sharky" McDonald
led his team to an outstanding victory at home against a disappointing Doubleview.
Merv Ford Sportsmans (pictured) Great first up win as skipper
The Shark won 32-18 to continue the run in a day of upsets. New skipper Merv
Ford and Colin Smith rinks both won to compound Doubleview's woes whilst John
Nicholls salvaged a point for the visitors. Well done Merv.
BEDFORD (6) def SORRENTO (2)
BULLS GORE FLIGHTLESS SWANS
In a game that never reached any great heights Bedford proved themselves better
under pressure against a disappointing Sorrento side. The aggregate was close
all day but for the fourth time this year Sorrento surrendered when it was
there for the taking (Doubleview, Osborne Park, Bassendean and now Bedford).
Kevin Burke and his team outplayed Brian Collins as did Peter Hunter
against
Alan Anderson. Tim Murray and John Hammond won for the visitors with the latter
just getting over the line after leading 17-3 midway through the game.
Tim Sansom Sorrento (pictured) Very good game playing
lead for John Hammond.
Bedford
are a good solid side and so are Sorrento. However, with a good injection of
mental toughness I believe Sorrento are capable of matching it with the best
in this division.
