GAME OF THE DAY
Dalkeith 75 (6.5) def Sorrento 73 (1.5)

DALKEITH GET VALUE FOR MONEY

Whatever monies or inducements Dalkeith outlayed to secure the services of Mark Krajancic and Dinko Golem it certainly paid off at Sorrento on Saturday.

Mark was absolutely outstanding in his teams 10 shot win over Brian Collins. My team mates at Sorrento advised that if not for Mark's flawless display they should have won by 10, not lost.
Dinko on the other hand was solid without being spectacular but played the bowl that won Dalkeith the aggregate. On the 21st end and leading 20-17 against Tim Murray Dinko was two down and Sorrento at that stage in front on aggregate. He played a perfectly weighted trail shot ( a fantastic effort given he was playing directly into a strong Sorrento wind) to make four shots.
Murray's rink can also take a lot of positives from the game because they trailed 2-14 after 7 ends but never gave in and fought the game right out.
John Hammond and his rink were too good for Tony Skoric whilst Alan Anderson and John O'Meehan fought out a well deserved draw with nothing separating the teams all day.

For Dalkeith it is onwards and upwards whilst for Sorrento it is another one that just got away. As I mentioned in a previous report this may not be Sorrento's year but with so many young talented players they are going to be very strong within in the next couple of years.

Osborne Park 138 (8) def Sportsmen's 50 (0)

AM I SEEING THINGS

When I first looked at the Sunday Times yesterday I thought "that must be a mis-print". (wrong)

I thought Sportsmen's may be in trouble against an Osborne Park team on the re-bound but I never contemplated such a thrashing.
Rance Dewson and his rink were absolutely ruthless against the rink of Craig Greehalgh romping away with a 55-11 avalanche. For those of you going to the record books to see if this is a record score in first division metropolitan pennants I can save you the time. It is not.
In a One Red fixture at Cockburn against North Beach, Spiro Novak, Mike Zusman, Jeff Hall (yes, Melville's Jeff Hall) and Steve Shroy won 59-9 against a person I like too much to embarrass (and for all you smarties out there - not me). In fact we won on the other three rinks and still lost the aggregate by 40.
Mighty Max Wilhelm Osborne Park (pictured) shows us his style in his rinks massive win against Craig Greenhalg
I digress, Doug Eaton also had a thumping 24 shot win to narrowly miss out on the pots by only 20 shots. Both Mark "Sharky" McDonald and Merv Ford were competitive but still lost to Keith Guelfi and Dante Mariani respectively.

Bassendean 78 (7) def Cambridge 77 (1)

BASSENDEAN KEEP CHARGE GOING

What a fickle game. At first glance it appears Bassendean with 7 points have won well. This could not be further from the truth with only 1 shot in the final result. With the highest winning margin on any rink being just 6 shots, Bassendean have come away with a very good haul the circumstances.
If I was an Osborne Park or Dalkeith/Nedlands player I would be getting a little concerned because it appears that things are starting to fall into place for Bassendean with them 8 points off top position with 7 games to play.

Doubleview 90 (8) def Bedford 70 (0)

BULLS DIDN'T ENJOY THE VIEW

In a complete form reversal Doubleview "The View" blank sheeted the unpredictable Bedford. Having played Bedford last week I thought they would have been "good things" to win this one.
However Mssrs Haring, Curtis, Johnson & Nicholls had other ideas and duly put that theory to rest. "The View" needed the win because they were starting to skate close to the relegation zone whilst Bedford are paying for some inconstancy.
The game between Eddy Johnson and Dave Scott was all about the other seven players on the rink watching Eddy Johnson. I guess it would be fair to say that the Bedford front three won the battle against the Doubleview front three. On the skippers crossover, Bedford were up with big numbers on many occasions only to see Eddy converted to a down how many situation for Bedford.
Eddy Johnson Doubleview (pictured) Brilliant game from Eddy Johnson
This was an outstanding game from Eddy "Captain Conversion" Johnson and It would be the best skippers performance that I have seen this year, Last year the best was John Hammond from Sorrento and Bomber Haring from Doubleview . Eddy won the game 20/19.

Peter Hunter and Stan Curtis had a ding dong go at it with the final score going Stan's way 19/18
John Nicholls and his rink had a handy 26/15 win against Cliff Graybrook
While Bomber Haring was up to his usual trick winning against Kevin Burke 25/18

Morrison Park 79 (5) drew Nollamara 79 (3)

IT JUST DOESN'T GET ANY CLOSER

It is hard to fathom that after 1344 legitimate bowls have been played that two sides would be deadlocked. Well that is exactly what happened at Morrison Park.
Whilst Morrrison Park were successful on three rinks they could not compensate for the performance of Brian Wardrop and his team. Nollamara continue their resurgence.
