Murray's Review on One Blue North.
Round SIXTEEN

March 20, 2006
Sherro is writing Tims column this week due to delay in getting results

Doubleview beat Dalkeith and Osborne Park beat Bassendean.
If we had a meaningful final four like previous years we would notice that 5 teams are vying for the fourth position.

Sorrento-------------- 67.5
Cambridge -.............. 67
Doubleview .............. 65
Bedford .................... 62.5
Morrison Park.......... 62.5

Well of course it doesnt matter now that BowlsWA have taken that sort of interest out of the competition as there is no reward or reason to get excited anymore because only the top side will be promoted.
This is certainly more proof that BowlWa have made the poorest decision possible and have shown a great deal of incompetence changing a successful stucture to the system that is now employed.

Bedford 86 (6) def Cambridge 82 (2)
This was a good game and it shows that the game is never over till the final bowl has been played. The game was played on a very good paced green
Shane Shaw ,Dave Scott and Cliff Graybrook were in big trouble early and to get out of the mess took some doing.

Cliff Graybrook and his team were in big trouble down 3/12 against Jimmy Gupanis and come from a long way back to snatch a draw 19/19.
Dave Scott was down 5/16 and seemed that his rink would cop a flogging. The Cambridge boys seemed to have someone always on hand to rescue the situation when needed. Wilbur Sherrington is one very good leader and again he did an excellent job, tho Sherro held his own, Graham Leeks played another handy game while Tony Garrett struggled in this game, Graham Jones put his bowls right on the jack at the most important times.
Gary Hawkes played a blinder, nothing was beyond him today and a real quality player we saw in action today..
Dave Scott wasnt at his best till halfway thru the game and from that time on was just brilliant. It was like the cavallery arriving, He made all the difference that allowed a great fightback which saw his rink holding shot and game after leads and seconds had finished on the last end which was at 18/18 all. Cambridge managed to get the shot and win 19/18 in a great game of bowls.

Dave Crook Bedford (pictured) Played very well in this game

Kevin Bourke had a different side to last week and got plenty of bowls in the head which allowed the rink to set up a match winning performance against Keith Cannon's rink. Dave Crook returned to play after a stint in the One Red side and played a mighty good game for the Bulls.

SHANE SHAW SAYS
Hard game today Sherro. We didn’t have the best of starts being a 9 – 1 down after 3 ends but we stuck the heals in and got it back, however to the Cambridge 3rd and skippers fortune and good bowls they kept at us all day. John Carlsen had another good game leading well and Ken Perks and Nigel both played well also. I thought I could have converted a little move but the problem was everytime I converted the opposing skipper would do it back. In the end 3 ends to play and 10 down on the board we dug deep and picked up 7 shots to lose by 3 and  help win the aggregate and enable Bedford to get 5 and half points. There was a great comeback from Cliff to Draw after trailer by 12 and a good win to Kevin Burke by 5, and a 1 shot lose on the last end to Dave Scott.

Sorrento 85 (7) Morr Park 68 (1)
This game went as expected with Tim Murray Angry Anderson and John Hammond leading the way to win very easily.
Joe "never miss a drive" Rolnik standing up for Morrison Park to be their only winner

Doubleview def Dalkeith
Doubleview prove that Dalkeith might be a little overated as the lose another game, last week Dalkeith staggered across the line against Bedford. Full marks to the Doubleview boys and word has got around that they were well rewarded for their effort

Doubleview 86 (6) Dalk-Ned 76 (2)

Osb Park 88 (7) Bassendean 65 (1)
This win has certainly helped Osborne Park in their endeavour to make the top spot and gain promtion
Rance Dewson toppled the leading rink in the One Blue North division which is an acheivement in it self while Edwards led rink disposed of John Lynches rink fairly easily and now with a loss like this it has placed the top position out of reach for Bassendean.
Doug Eaton tamed the very well performed rink of Jim Savage.

Wilhelm Francesconi Boyd Dewson.............. 19
Trowl Hutchinson Jones Norac ..................... 18

Sports 92 (7) Nollamara 69 (1):
Sporties have done well from around the middle of the season and this is a very good win for them. Still we will say goodby to both Nollamara and Sportsmans as they will depart the scene and go to second division from where they may never return to first division status
