Murray's Review on One Blue North.
Round one
November 7, 2005
Well after round 1, I managed to fluke to 4 out
of 5.
Morrison Park (the one I got wrong) have recruited well and will be much stronger
than was envisaged. However, I am sure that whilst Cambridge won't be panicking
about the loss they may be a little concerned at the margin.
Doubleview defeated Sportsman's as predicted but the margins were not great
and I give full credit to the Sporties for showing great character in the face
of an horrendous lead up to the first game. Mick Dingley and team take a bow.
Osborne Park confirmed they will be hard to beat with a comprehensive win over
Nollamara even though Nollamara have recruited some very handy players.
Bassendean were too steady for Dalkeith/Nedlands but we all know they will
improve. Star recruit Marko Krajancic and his team won but not by enough to
offset the other three teams losses.
Sorrento defeated Bedford in a high class game that ebbed and flowed on all
four rinks before Sorrento created a winning break very late in the game.

One Blue (North) will be a keenly contested
competition this year with the standout teams appearing to be Bassendean, Dalkeith/Nedlands,
Doubleview & Osborne
Park. All other teams will be competitive with perhaps a small question mark
against Nollamara and Morrison Park leading into the opening round and if the
rumours are correct my old club Sportsman's are in terrible trouble losing
up to nine players from the first division on the eve of the season starting.
Round One- (Game of the Day) Bassendean vs. Dalkeith/Nedlands.
It is widely
known that Dalkeith have recruited strongly and predictably are tipped to do
well. However, in this match I like the evenness of the Bassendean outfit and
at home they certainly won't be overawed by Dalkeith whom may take a few weeks
to settle into different game plans. On that basis I am tipping Bassendean
6-2 at home by less than a handful of shots. It will make for interesting reading
if former team mates and State players Mark Krajancic and Tom Norac clash.
