WhereTim Murray predicts they will finish in One Red!
October 31, 2005
1. Cockburn- ( Best disciplined
side in competition)
2. Osborne Park ( Very good all round strength with
some great recruits)
3. Bedford (Great recruits- the only thing that stopped
me picking them to finish second is the question of how will so many new recruits
gel in one year.)
4. Doubleview ( I believe they will
miss the Rainoldi's more than they appreciate. I also sense that Dennis and
Robbie are not the intimidating forces they once were with the majority of
bowlers at this level)
5. Victoria Park ( Still have a lot of very good
players despite losing some quality players however, with the possible recruitment
of Steve Withers they will only be stronger. Justin Opie is the best skipper
in the competition but as a team they lack something. This team could win the
premiership - but I am not brave enough to suggest that just yet)
6. Cambridge ( Very good recruits but must learn
from last year is that the game is won by a team effort and not individual
brilliance. If that lesson is learnt they could finish very high on the ladder,
if not they are prone to lose the close ones)
7. Wanneroo (
I would not be surprised if they surprised and did very well. A very capable
team that only need to win a few close ones to make it difficult for two or
three sides above them on my ladder)
8. Melville ( One of
my favourite clubs but unfortunately have been underachievers for as long as
I can remember. They have continually disappointed their own fans and many
students of the game. Over the years they have mastered the art of slow beginnings
or dramatic fade outs.
9.. Leeming ( Rhett Butler is pure class and it is
obvious why he is a Queensland State third). However, they have been unsuccessful
in adding depth to their team and they may be found out at the top level.
10.Yokine ( Too many quality players lost to survive in this cut throat competition.
To add to this Yokine did not do themselves any favours two seasons ago when
they were on top and fiddled with their top team to accommodate non-performing
lower divisions. Syd is a great leader but may have been ill-advised on that
decision. It has come back to haunt them in a very short space of time. That
having been said I wish them all the very best for the upcoming season.
