Trystan
Smallacombe won the Mt Lawley Consistency singles against Andrew
Jones in a high standard game. Both Players were terrific and there wasn't
much between them, there were many outstanding ends up to the 40 mark, when for
the first time there was a change in length {short}thrown by Andrew, Trystan won
that end threw it longer and from that time on Andrew struggled with his weight.
Trystan playing brilliant bowls, just kept banging them on, ran away and built
up a 25 shot lead over Andrew and at this stage looking the winner leading 82/57
This
is when Andrew called for a mars bar and lemonade, and it worked because from
that point he regained his early touch, and slowly worked his way back into the
game with some oustanding draw shots and drives to get within 5 shots up to the
110 mark, Trystan had slowed down his work rate and was appearing in danger of
being completey over run such was the display of Andrew.
Trystan rolled up the sleeves, steadied and started to show his champion qualities
with extremely good draw shots under pressure and his driving paid handsome dividends
when used. He went on to win a terrific game in which both players should be proud
of.
This
was a game to remember because of the steadiness of Trystan when things weren't
going well. And the never say die attitude of the Jones boy, who is not only a
brilliant draw shot but also terrific with a drive, he rarely misses. He made
a big impression on all who came to watch.
Bill Galloway, a state selector was at the game and he just might be wondering
why they dropped Trystan from the state side. Trystan has answered the selectors
decision to drop him with a brilliant win. Well done Trystan.
You can have a drink on me fellas.
Third place went to kyle McIlroy who defeated Scott Walker 121/89
