They defeated Neil Minchin (sk) Bruce Fullagar, Cyril Walsh and Ross Beaman in a hard fought affair.
This game had some of the best players in the club going head to head and that is the reason it was a good standard game.
Barry Gartrell's rink picked up a 5 on the first end but the rink of Neil Minchin fought back to be 9/9 on the 8th end, winning 5 of those ends to three.
From here on it was the end for the Neil Minchin led rink tho they were not know it at the time. They only won 2 of the next 9 ends.
The scores did not reflect just how good the game was, there was several conversions by the thirds and Skippers
Perhaps Peter Hunter was the man to do the most damage and was best on ground. He was very consistent and had Ross Beaman's measure in the leading dept.
The seconds had a good battle in the first half but Shane Nunan played a strong second half to take the honours against Cyril Walsh
As far as the thirds went, Saturday's hero Paul Hunter played several telling bowls to give his side the edge in the second half while Bruce Fullagar was forced to play play a rear guard game as the front two players were losing their positions.
Both Skips were good,Neil Minchin was outstanding in the first half but the volume of opposition bowls told on him in the end. Barry Gartrell was good for the most part of the game.

THE PLATE
Cliff Graybrook (sk) N. Collins, P. Loveland, B. Sims won the plate defeating Last years winner Brian Tupper (sk) Joe Hofgesang, D. Crook, K. Weiss
18/15

This game was full twists and turns where we saw Brian Tupper's side get away to a great start to be leading 13/3 on the 10th end with Dave Toohey and Dave Crook playing extremely well..
From here on came the fightback from as Lance and his boys rolled up their sleeves to work their way back into the game to lead on the 17th end 17/16

Several great bowls were played as the pressure was well and truly being applied, Leader Bill Pitt was getting them close. Joe Hofgesangplayed some rippers to get the side out of bother and Brian Tupper drew some absolute gems to win important ends.
After 21 ends it was 19/19 and on the extra end Brian Tupper was down the crossover but drew the two winning bowls on a long end as you can see in the pic below to win the game for his side who all played very well.

-----------

While all players played their part to make this a great game it was Brian Tupper who was the man of the match.

David Croook was in the winning side last year and wins again in a completely different team
Well done Dave on winning the fours back to back.

The hilight of this game was the terrific leading dual between Matt Trewhella and the ageless Harry Matsen, Matt won the honours in a high class display, those red bowls were always very close to the jack and made it easy for the rest of the team following.
It was hard work for Kevin Burke who was generally down on the crossover however he and his rink did a commendable job to give themslves a rough chance of winning at around the 18th end when they were 9/13 down and playing far better than they were earlier in the game.
However skipper Barry Gartrell who had a very good game changed it on many occassions when he was down.
Overall it was a good game but it was the Barry Gartrell rink that was always in control.

The best players for this game were
3. Matt Trewhella.
2. Barry Gartrell.
1. Harry Matsen.

Season 2004/5

Another great game for the club title saw the Team of John McGrath {skip}, Dave Scott, John Bills and Syd Hearn {sub} defeat
Lance Strahan {skip}, Frank Andrich, Ian Lehane {sub} and Vaughan Colley.

scoreboardThis game was nip and tuck right up till the 17th end where the scores were tied 14/14 all, there were many fine bowls played by both sides, The leader Syd Hearn played extremely well and was the main difference between winning and losing the game. Dave Scott played plenty of good bowls as did John Bills and John McGrath.
Lance Strahan and Frank Andrich did a lot of damage {good things} along with the sub Ian Lehane. The game was decided on the last four ends with John McGraths team playing that little bit better in a very high standard affair.

Plate 2004/5

Bob Norriss {skip} Neil Minchin, Nigel Minchin and John Norriss who beat Ned Bull {skip} Ken Perks, Roscoe Beaman and Frank Preist 25/9

Season 2003/4

loloIn a great game TheTeam of Ron Rushforth (skip) Frank Andrich, Harry Matsen and Vaughan Colley won the club fours, defeating Bob Norriss (skip), Tony Garrett, Terry Sheridan and John Norriss.
It was a very hard fought game with little separating the teams, however the Tremendous game played by Ron Rushforth was the difference between winning and losing.
Drawing the impossible shot on five occassions saving 3s and 4s. Well played Rushy, a fabulous display.

Plate 2003/4

The team of Bill Richardson (skip) Mel Lemos, Royce Hamilton and John Carlson defeated Adi Meyer (skip) Peter Healy
