The
final of the blue ribbon event between BarryGartrell and BillyRichardson was
played in cold and windy conditions, the green was extremely heavy, considering
this, it was a top class game, Barry winning a very tough contest.
Barry Gartrell was trailing early in the game then slowly got on top of Billy Richardson. with both men playing extremely well it was Barry who produced the goods when it was most needed . Billy threw the jack into the ditch on three occasions and this definitely harmed his chances of winning the game.
Barry Gartrell did himself and the club proud when he lost the semi-final 24/25 in the club champion of champions in unfortunate circumstances to Paul Pendergast who in turn lost to the winner Mark Krajansic 25/24. This the second best result achieved by a Bedford player in this prized tournament. The best being that of Bruce urqhart who at the age of 16 won in 1995
