Daniel Trewhella played a magnificent game to win the Mount Lawley Consistency Singles against Doubleview's John Slavich in windy conditions with a little rain

Prior to the commencement of the game there were some who were giving John a show of taking out the title based on his outstanding performances thru the event, and his wonderful win against the Wanneroo Wizard Clive Adams in the semi-final.

My own thoughts were Daniel Trewhella would win the game against any opponent he played, based on his magnificent display yesterday when his opponents could not keep their shots no matter how well they played

The game started out with Daniel winning the first end 9-1, all draw shots. For the next three ends John dominated getting his bowls very close and on these ends John held 9-1 and with the last bowl of the end, Daniel converted with a powerful drive to win 9-1, next end the same, then two ends later John held 10-0 only again watch in despair as Daniel converted it 9-1 his way with yet another deadly accurate drive. The game continued on with Daniel lifting his draw shot game to another level. It was rare for John to recover from a down situation but no probs for Daniel.

The rain came down and it was interesting to see how the boys would handle it. Daniel did, John didn't, he was falling short a little to often while Daniel was putting them on the jack almost at will .
From here on Daniel Trewhella gave an outstanding exhibition lawn bowls using his drive power in combination with his brilliant draw shots.
It was always only a matter of time for the game to end, but at no stage did John chuck in the towel and battled manfully against "the Excitement Machine".

Only special players can play the type of game that Daniel played over the series, he certainly is one of those special players.

After the game Daniel said he felt he played a pretty good game especially in the conditions that prevailed but was concerned a little during the rain and how it might affect the way he was handling the conditions.
Rhett Butler, last years winner marked the game and described Daniel's game as awesome and one that would be very hard to counter.

------------. First semi-final one Daniel Trewhella 132 Brian Axford 98

---------First semi- final two was won by John Slavich 132 Clive Adams 98

The Mount Lawley Bowling club decided to have third and fourth positions decided by a playoff and It was Brian Axford coming out on top defeating Clive Adams 103-77. This has been a great series for Brian and it gives him something to build on from here . Brian was the only player who was not in the State squad to make the semi's. Well done Brian.
Clive Adams was sensational yesterday but the windy conditions played their part to curb his normal game while John Slavich who was brilliant, played as if there wasn't any wind. Clive has had a great year and has clearly established himself as one of the best players here in the West. Well done Clive Adams
