--------------------TIM MURRAY PREVIEW ROUND TEN------------------------
-
January 11 , 2007 ROUND
TEN
At first glance this round looks far easier to select winners than in the
preceding nine weeks. We have the top four sides playing opposition well
below them but lawn bowls being the game it is I am sure we will be in for
some surprises.
Gosnells vs Dalkeith/Nedlands (1st
Round Dalkeith def Gosnells)
Both of these sides lost last week but I am not prepared to predict against Dalkeith two weeks in a row. I am positive that Dinko Golem will not be beaten by twenty shots again this season.
With Mark Krajancic in outstanding form and Tony Skoric improving every week I think Dalkeith will prove too consistent for Gosnells.
Gosnells stalwart Kevin Bairstow is a very hard player to beat when on song and up until last week Brett Holland and his rink had been in outstanding form. If they fire this may be a very close game.
Dalkeith for me.
Safety Bay vs Yokine (1st Round Safety Bay def Yokine)
This is a difficult one to select. I will stick with the old adage that winning form is good form and given that Safety Bay had a great win over Dalkeith last week I will stick with them.

Rod Heaton (pictured) has shown faith by retaining the exact same side from
last weeks defeat. In the absence of the injured Tony Kay I think it is a
good move and should motivate Yokine to repay the faith.
However, Safety Bay at home is a hard test for anyone.
South Perth vs Scarborough (1st Round South Perth def Scarborough)
South Perth has a very good balanced team with a number of highly promising players
on the rise. At the same time Scarborough have found form at the right time
making this a very good game.
I favour South Perth but would not be surprised
if Scarborough won. Barry Powell and his rink have had a huge influence
on the Scarborough team and they will be looking for further success.
Conversely,
South Perth’s Larry Bandy will be keen to break a losing steak.
South Perth
Thornlie vs Kardinya (1st Round Thornlie def Kardinya)
Clash of the two carpet specialist teams. I think Thornlie have just a little more depth than their opponents but again I would not be in the least bit surprised if Kardinya won this one. However, I will select Thornlie.
Victoria Park vs Warwick (1st Round Victoria Park def Warwick)
Victoria Park is showing the type of form I expected much earlier in the season. No matter what way I look at it, I cannot see Warwick upsetting the premiership favourites.
I understand Mark Simpson has left Victoria Park for good. This is a huge loss to the “Reds” as not only is “Simmo” on the “top shelf” as far as bowlers go in this State but he is a bloody good bloke as well.
