ROUND THREE
Kardinya vs Gosnells
Kardinya simply must win this game. With quality skippers in John Smith, Tony Cocodis & Terry Ball pitted against the Cruickshank’s (Robbie and Bert) and the ageless skills of Kevin “Bear” Bairstow the game shapes as a beauty.
Tony Cocodis (pictured) Top class skipper playing for Kardinya
For no other reason than the game is played at Kardinya I am tipping them to break through for their first win of the season.
Scarborough vs Safety Bay
Hard to go for “the Seagulls” on exposed form. Whilst Ron Kuziela and Geoff
White are class acts and Brian Axford is performing quite well early they
have a genuine problem on the fourth rink with neither Steve Stokes or Robert
Trow having the impact Scarborough would have expected.
On the other hand
Safety Bay is travelling beautifully after the two wins last weekend and I
expect them to extend that to three.
South Perth vs Thornlie
Whilst South Perth has the home carpet advantage I cannot see them troubling
a gifted Thornlie outfit that appear to be a genuine premiership prospect.
I am a little surprised that Scott Walker is not skippering down at the Zoo
but I suspect that will change in time. Paul Pohe, Ric Gilbert, Glynn Vaughan
(in particular) and a host of others are simply too classy for “the Millers”.
Warwick vs Dalkeith/Nedlands
Both sides are 1-1 with Warwick being just as impressive as their rivals.
Interestingly, they both lost to Victoria Park. I think this game will tell
us a lot about both sides.
I expect it to be a very hard fought affair but
lean towards Dalkeith. I am probably biased by the fact that we (Sorrento)
played them four times last year (second semi final & Grand Final) for 0-4
return.
Yokine vs Victoria Park
Very hard to go for Yokine even though they are at home. A long standing member
of Yokine advised me during the week that Yokine will not realise their true
potential until they start playing “percentage bowls” instead of consistently
trying to conjure up the “Hollywood shot”.
I am sure that if Rod Heaton agrees
with that sentiment he will take steps to address it immediately.
However,
the Victoria Park side oozes class and I expect them to remain undefeated
come Saturday afternoon.
