ONE WHITE PREVIEW ROUND SIX

Victoria Park (3rd) vs South Perth (1st)

This is the game of the season thus far. Victoria Park’s most successful team so far is skippered by Jeff Mitchell with a 4-1 ratio. Graeme Wishart has a 3-2 record but has been in devastating form in the fortnight winning both games by the length of the straight.

Rooster Wishart Vic Park (pictured) playing in good form for the Reds

Steve Withers also has a 3-2 record but is the negative for shots up. This is not nearly good enough for a player of Steve’s ability particularly when you take into account how strong his rink is.
The jury is still out on young Thomas Mitchell after he has had one very big win and one even bigger loss. I think Victoria Park’s fortunes this season rest very much on Tom’s ability as the fourth rink to ensure that any losses are kept to the minimum margin.

South Perth has Larry Bandy in the sort of form that most skippers would only dream about. He has had one loss in his last 19 games as skipper.
Scotty Walker has a perfect 2-0 record, whilst Ken Pride has a 4-1 record and Kevin Howieson is at 3-2 for the season.

I am tipping Victoria Park because I think that whilst South Perth have done everything right so far, it is “the Reds” who still have a lot of improvement in them.

Gosnells (6th) vs Thornlie (3rd)
A blow for Gosnells in that I understand Robert Cruikshank is not playing again this season. He was instrumental to the team last year and will be sorely missed. These two clubs have been fierce rivals since their formation. With the game being played at Gosnells it certainly improves their chances, however, I think that Thornlie are just too settled and in very good form.

Thornlie to win.

Warwick (9th) vs Safety Bay (5th)

I saw enough good signs from Warwick last week to honestly believe they will upset Safety Bay on Saturday. With the game being played at Warwick and with Alan Hogarth, Brian Friend, John Mather and Jeff Sheppard playing for Warwick’s survival they will triumph in this one.

Yokine (7th) vs Kardinya (8th)

Very good win by Kardinya last week but I cannot predict they will beat Yokine at Yokine. After a settling in period Yokine are now playing very well and will have too much depth for the visitors.

Dalkeith/Nedlands (4th) vs Scarborough (10th)

Dalkeith will win this one but they have some problems at present. For a side in the top four it is unbelievable that 3 of the 4 skippers are in the negative on the shot count.
Without the efforts of the Mark Krajancic rink 5-0 plus 60 shots they would be languishing.
