--------------------TIM MURRAY PREVIEW ROUND NINE------------------------

-

January 4 , 2006 ROUND NINE

Well after a short break we are back into it. Leading up to the Xmas break Victoria Park & Dalkeith/Nedlands were streaking away from the rest of the competition whilst Scarborough, Yokine & Warwick were struggling to stay out of relegation troubles.

I don’t know the reason why but nearly every year form and fortunes change after the break. Whether they do this year we will find out over the next couple of weeks. .

Gosnells vs Victoria Park

This is exactly the sort of game that Gosnells could win but I am not brave enough to tip them over the “Reds” whom just seem to have too much all round talent. They are fortunate that they also possess some very classy players.

Brett Holland has been outstanding for Gosnells whilst Thomas Mitchell has been an excellent find for Victoria Park.
Victoria Park to win.

Safety Bay vs Dalkeith/Nedlands

I am going to tip an upset here. Safety Bay’s form has been too bad to be true and I think the break will have done them a lot of good in terms of regaining some lost form and confidence.

At home they are always hard to beat and thus I think they will beat the powerful Dalkeith line up.

Scarborough vs Warwick

A great chance for the “Seagulls” to give themselves a realistic chance of avoiding demotion. However I think Warwick possess a much better balanced team and that should get them get over the line on Saturday.

The promotion of Barry Powell to skipper has been a great success and with the continued good form of Geoff White and his rink puts them right in this game.

South Perth vs Kardinya

Two weeks before the break South Perth were travelling beautifully but lost important matches against the two top sides. This leaves a question mark over them and if there is any team capable of testing the opposition it is Kardinya.
South Perth have to win to regain credibility as a potential premier division side. I think they may win but not with a lot of confidence.

Congratulations to the South Perth boys (Bresland & Pride) for their efforts

in the State pairs.

Thornlie vs Yokine
What I have written about South Perth applies equally to Thornlie. They must win the big games if they want to be taken seriously as a potential premier league side.

John McGrath Yokine (pictured) Mr fix it, has played a variety of roles since joining Yokine

Yokine have been disappointing to say the least but have the potential to beat any side in the competition on their day. Thornlie will certainly want them to have their day, just not this Saturday. I think Thornlie might just win and start a run of wins leading up to the finals.
