ONE WHITE REVIEW
I am quickly confirming what many of the readers of this column may have suspected for a while, I know nothing about bowls.
0 from 3 selections this week has me on shaky ground in relation to credibility.
Dalkeith blew the chance to cement top spot, Kardinya are now a real top four chance and Warwick have given themselves a relegation reprieve with a comprehensive win over the troubled Yokine “Doggies”.
Safety Bay 81 (7) def Thornlie 80 (1)
THE BAY END DROUGHT
After an extended losing streak the real Safety Bay turned up on Saturday and provided the first upset of the weekend with a valuable 7-1 over premiership hopefuls Thornlie.
On that subject Thornlie will have to make the four if they expect to challenge and mixed with the results of the weekend that now is not certain. Ray Beard and Graham Scott led the way for the “Bay” but Nick Reagan nearly countered their good work with a 29-14 mauling over Matt Massari.
In the end Safety Bay fell in by a solitary shot.
Kardinya 82 (7) def Dalkeith/Nedlands 65(1)
BEAT KRAJANCIC AND YOU BEAT DALKEITH
Kardinya’s great win over Dalkeith on Saturday will have many of the other premiership hopefuls thinking that as long as the rink of Mark Krajancic can be countered or even beaten then they are not the same force.
On Saturday Ian Hastings proved that with a 22-17 conquering of the mighty Krajancic rink. This led the way for Terry Ball to account for Dinko Golem 22-9.
By his own high standards Dinko is having a horror season and will look to the finals as the forum to prove his class.
John Smith belted Peter Bacich 22-11 whilst Tony Skoric registered an emphatic 28-16 win over the Foy led rink.
The result gives Kardinya a better than even chance of finishing in the top four as over the past two weeks they have defeated premierships favourites in Victoria Park and now Dalkeith.
Warwick 90 (6) def Yokine 66 (2)
HAVE DOGGIES LOST THEIR BITE?
Warwick “Magpies” recorded a very valuable win over a toothless “Doggies” outfit at Warwick on Saturday. The win provides Warwick with a realistic chance of avoiding demotion but puts Yokine in a very precarious position.
Alan Hogarth returned to his early season form with a thumping win over John Gallop whilst the Gerdtz led rink decimated Tony Kay 28-9.
Rod Heaton and Michael Yates recorded wins but by nowhere enough to cover the losing margin of the other two rinks hence the 24 shot deficit.
