DOGGIES BITE BACK

Yokine 82 (7) def Victoria Park 78 (1)

Yokine not only helped themselves but many other teams in the competition by downing pre-season favorites Victoria Park out at the kennel on Saturday. It will be a fantastic boost for Yokine and proves they are far from a spent force in WA bowls.

Rod Heaton (pictured) Playing his part against Vic Park

Rod Heaton's rink proved the difference picking up a 5 and 6 shot count in the last five ends against Mark Simpson. Apparently the duel between leaders Billy Morrison and Tom Reid was a ripper with both players in top touch.

"THE BAY " CONTINUES ON WINNING WAY

Safety Bay 88 (7) def Scarborough 55 (1)
Safety Bay continued their very good form at the expense of Scarborough.
After only three rounds these two sides at the opposite ends of the table.

The Bay are flying high on top and obviously looking forward to how the season unfolds. On the other hand Scarborough must be wondering when they will record their first victory.
In this match it was not only the fact of the defeat but the margin of 33 shots that would be worrying chairman of selectors, Geoff White.

THEY CAN'T GET ANY CLOSER

Kardinya 76 (4) drew Gosnells 76 (4)

At the completion of 84 ends these two sides could not be separated. Robbie Cruickshank and his rink were good servants for Gosnells with a 22-15 win whilst the Kardinya rink skippered by R. Sweet countered with a very solid 25-16 win for the home team.

KRAJANCIC FACTOR PREVAILS

Dalkeith/ Nedlands 83 (6) def Warwick (71 (2)

Dalkeith defeated Warwick on the back of Marko Krajancic and his rink taking apart their unfortunate opponents 31-10.
I am advised that Mark is playing as well as he has at anytime in his illustrious career. If that is correct some poor skippers are in for horrid afternoons over the upcoming weeks

"MILLARS" NOT MAKING UP THE NUMBERS

South Perth 87 (7) def Thornlie 78 (1)

South Perth proved well and truly that they are not in this division to simply make up the numbers when they crunched Thornlie Ravens at home. The "Ravens" were tipped to be the big improvers and started the season with two fine wins but were brought back to earth with a thud on Saturday by a more committed team.

Footnote:

It was Yokine first victory of the season as they actually lost to Gosnells 1.5 to 6.5 in Round 2 despite BowlsWA website indicating the match was a draw.
