ONE WHITE REVIEW
Well this week I set a personal best, 1 correct selection out of 5.
I also managed to put a jinx on the rinks of Jeff Mitchell, Paul Pohe, Ken Pride, Larry Bandy and Graham Scott in the process.
I pumped all these guys’ tyres up only to see them lose in no uncertain fashion.
A very good round of fixtures if you were a Scarborough, Kardinya, Dalkeith, Victoria Park or Gosnells player.
Victoria Park (6) def Thornlie (2)
Champion Victoria Park skipper, Rooster and his rink set the tone
for the victory with a comprehensive 27-12 win against the Paul Pohe led
rink. Thomas Mitchell continues to impress and was a solid winner.
Whilst Jeff Mitchell lost his second game for the season after going down to Jim McKenzie 12-24 he proved to be somewhat of the aggregate winner.
.
McKenzie's rink held 5 shots on the last end at the changeover, McKenzie drew another 2 however Jeff Mitchell's two drives removed 4 counters (the difference in the aggregate)..
Dalkeith/Nedlands (7.5) def South Perth (0.5)
A very disappointing result for “the Millers”. Last week excuses could be found for the defeat out at Victoria Park but not for the demolition they suffered at the hands of Dalkeith.
Dinko Golem Dalkeith (pictured) Champion Skipper returning to the winners list
with a huge win
The great news for Dalkeith was the marvelous return to form of star players
Dinko Golem and Tony Skoric who had 32-10 & 22-10 respectively.
Scarborough (6.5) def Yokine (1.5)
Congratulations to Scarborough on their first win of the season. Barry Powell in his first game as skipper this season made sure it was a particularly miserable day for the Yokine rink skippered by Rod Heaton winning 40-17. Geoff White joined into the party with a crushing 22-11 over “KiwI” Brougham.
Scarborough keeps their faint hopes of avoiding relegation alive but I have
no idea where to for Yokine from here. I suspect that many of them will have
to take their own little “motives and agendas” off the table and start playing
for the CLUB.
Gosnells (7) def Safety Bay (1)
Well if there is any truth to the rumour of in-fighting at the Gosnells club it certainly didn’t bother them on their trip to Safety Bay on Saturday.
For the second week in a row the Safety Bay rink of John Biglin has lost by such a margin that winning the aggregate is almost impossible. This week the 21 shot loss was to the in-form rink of Brett Holland.
Kardinya (7) def Warwick (1)
Kardinya continue to march on whilst Warwick’s woes are compounding. Alan Hogarth was (for the second week in a row) Warwick’s only winning skipper. John Mather continued his nightmare run with a 18-31 loss to Kardinya’s Ray Sweet.
Tony Cocodis Kardinya (pictured) Topline skip had a narrow win on the weekend
These two clubs are probably at the opposite ends of the spectrum right at this moment. Kardinya with three consecutive victories will be brimming with confidence and wanting to keep their teams stable. On the other hand Warwick probably has to “roll the dice” to see if they can’t come up with some other winning combinations.
