ONE RED GRAND-FINAL
Well how can a team get belted the way that Cockburn were in the second semi-final and come out and flick the switch off for the Doubleview powerhouse?
Cockburn have a team of many unheralded bowlers who just played with such determination and skill to overcome a side that boasts so many state players.
I had a feeling that Cockburn who had beaten DV twice this year and finished on top of the ladder would not turn in another bad performance and Saturday was just one of those days. It was a brilliant victory, with outstanding games by Daniel Brown, terrific performances by Dinko Golem Steve Cerff, Russell Hughes, Max Brown, Steve Srhoy to name a few but most of the cockburn players were good today.

Doubleview were the favourites and were holding up well on the major scoreboard till end 71 where the score was 68/65 in Cockburns favour, from there it was all doom and gloom for the DV Powerhouse. Many of their players fought very hard and showed lots of class and would have won on most other days. Today was not going to be their day, a valiant effort but soundly beaten.

Russell hughes and his rink were well down, 4/16, and I couldn't see how they would ever get out of the mess they were in.The Doubleview Boys were going great guns with all chipping in and making a contribution.
Well you don't get to be the best rink in W.A if you cant handle pressure. To get back from that position against a rink that never took its foot off the pedal, shows what a quality rink it is. They just kept plugging away and plugging away, never rattled and stayed real cool. Max Brown had a great battle with Gary Papadopulas and would have just won the the battle overall.
Aaron Delaporte did a good job and Dan Penman played a cool game for Cockburn.
Steve Cerff {pictured} made a handy contribution to his rink in a high standard game.
Steve Cerff really lifted as the game wore on and played some telling bowls to help turn the tide, while Pat Buller played extremely well, Russell hughes showed his class and would have been happy with his game. Kyle, while he played well couldn't keep Cockburn at bay.

A cracker of a game, with not much in it at any stage and some of the best bowls you would see anywhere from either side.
It was pressure bowling at its best and no weak links on either side with everyone contributing.
In a game like this someone has to lose, Dinko Golem has plenty to offer as a skipper, he has got the goods to become a top flight player, made many fine saves for his club.
Lindsay Thorne and his rink also showed why they are hard to beat and deserved victory in a very high standard game.

This was a tough hard game for SteveSrhoy's rink, they were down for a lot of the game, and Steve Srhoy along with Glen Vaughan fought pretty hard to avoid the score getting out of hand and did well to keep it in check.
The leaders Vince Beckley and Charles Slavich played well below One Red standard in this game, which was disappointing considering it was One Red and a grand final. Just a bad hair day I guess.
Robbie Ball and his team held the whip hand for most of the match and were very deserving winners.

This was the back breaker, The score tells the story and it is hard to make a case for John Rainoldi's rink. They have cost Doubleview the pennant with a loss of this magnitude. Daniel Brown played an absolute burster as did his teammates Mike Zusman,John Ravlich {who was best on ground} and Peter Novak. I am sure even Dan would never have contemplated such a win.
Still, we know That John Rainoldi is one of the games best ever players and he would be hurting badly over this result, he is not alone when we see results like this, and sometimes there is nothing that can be done about it, there have been a few heavy losses over the weekend.

Wanneroo won this game as we thought they may, they have got wood on Leeming and have rolled them three times this season. There is no doubt that Wanneroo are the best side in One White and are most deserving of winning the pennant. It started with a long winning run, 10 or so wins on the trot and only losing two games ever so narowly toward the end of the season.

They had the old firm of Clive Adams and Geoff Ellis winning their respective rinks, and the game between Geoff Ellis and Wayne Heldt was a ripper. While the other close game between Ron Bates who was the top Skipper for Wanneroo this season, and Colin Moore was another very good game.
Congratulations to Wanneroo and Leeming for their great season.

Oh boy!!! must say the result was a surprise, there is not that much difference between the teams and I guess that Bassendean just simply had a bad one today.
However take nothing away from Thornlie who are a very good team.

Big winners were Les Carruthers, who had a fantastic year, and was the skipper of the best rink in One Blue While The Reagan led rink won just as handsomely.
Not much we can say for Bassendean who still had a great year without capping it off.

Sportsmans finished the season off very well to gain promotion, though there were times they were disappointing through the season. Still, they are a very young group of players and learning as they go along and the experience should hold them in good stead for next season.
Don't know anything about Spearwood But they have had an excellent season and we wish them well in One Blue.
Nothing wrong with the camera, John has green hair and it looks very modern.
