February 5, 2005:

Victoria Park's Geoff Hiskens {pictured} played very well today, helping in another VP victory.

Victoria.Park (7) beat Bedford (1) ..........83/ 67.........
Well what can we say!!!!,
A most disappointing game for the Bedford Bulls, for the second time only this season, they have been well beaten on the scoreboard, even tho three rinks presented themselves for this game.
A good game for "The Jones boy" and his rink with a fine win over Peter Harris's rink.,
A great game from Cliff Graybrook who saved the day for his rink without winning the game against M. Crameri, while producing a brilliant game yet again.

Lance Strahan going down yet again since his rink was changed from a winning formula.

Barry Gartrell's rink did not fire a shot and let themselves down today.

Of course we can't forget that VP came over to Bedford with out any feel for the plastic fantastic and came away handsome winners. At the end of the day, this win will have placed things into to perspective for Bedford,
The upside for VP is more knowledge as to the strength of their combination and what is needed to improve it .
We can only say, congratulations and well done to VP.

A. Jones { skip}, L.Krajancic. Paul Hunter, Peter Hunter---------------19
P. Harris skip}, C. Hayes,J. Evans, G. Quann-----------------------------14

The rink got away to a flyer, 5th end leading 5/4--- 12th end leading 13/6---16th end leading 18/6---to finally win the game 19/14. That is a good comeback for the P. Harris rink to lose by only 5 shots.
What is good here, is the Bedford players were more than aware of the importance of the game for Bedford and produced a winning effort against a rink that has generally struggled this season.
P. Harris must be wondering, and, yes, wondering, how can he get his team mates to get in there and do something for this rink!!!!!
That said, this Bedford rink had a good team effort and when it comes to who the best player was, well, The Jones boy was the man
For VP their best was the second John.Evans along with Peter.Harris who made many fine saves for VP.
=========================================================

Barry Gartrell {skip}, Neil Minchin , Bob Donovan,,F. Andrich---11
Rooster Wishart {skip}, J. Mitchell ,D.Florence, G. Hiskens------28
This VP team applied the heavy roller to The Bedford boys, with Rooster on fire, and so was his team, with such importance attached to the game, the VP rink applied themselves to the task and were leading 10/1 on the 6th end, on the 13th end Rooster leading 20/4, then romping away with the game to win 28/11, kissing Bedford's chances goodbye as to any thoughts of a win.
Best players for VP, all of them but overall Rooster got the nod.

==========================================================

L. Strahan {skip},S.Shaw, K.Collins J. Carlson..............20
J.Opie{skip},M. Simpson ,N.Young , T. Reid.................22.
This game had a strange turn in that J. Opie led 14/5 on the 9th end and Lance's rink came back hard to lead 16/14 on the 13th end.
Then we see the scores locked at 19/19 on the 19th end, anyone's game from here, however it was J. Opie and his boys who prevailed with a most important win, again we ask, it is our home {synthetic} green and we are not taking advantage of it, are we playing good enough? A very good attempt to win for the Bulls, but yet again falling short and unfortunately that don't get Bedford any points.

Justin.Opie had a birthday in the way he played and was the best player out of the eight on this rink.
K. Collins was clearly the best player for this rink.

lindsayCockburn(7) beat Doubleview (1)...........89/ 71.....
A very good win to Cockburn, who would not have been favoured to win this game against a very much in form Doubleview.
Cockburn got away to a bad start on the main scoreboard down 6/29 after 10 ends so this tells us it was indeed a very good win..
Cockburn were served wonderfully well by the man of the moment, Russell Hughes and his rink of S. Cerff, G. Vaughan and M. Brown who are second top rink in the competition beating John Rainoldi's rink 29/19. It is doubtful if Russell has had a better season than this one.
Dinko Golem has gone from strength to strength of late and recorded a very big win over Kyle McIlroy 22/12

Lindsay Thorne {pictured} Top skipper in One Red

Lindsay Thorne and his troops win another game and stay as the best rink in One Red with a good win over Daneil Brown 22/19
=============================================================

Melville(6.5) beat Safety Bay (1.5)...............89/81.....
As expected, a good win to the Melville "magic" but also an overdue good showing by Safety Bay who managed some points for the first time since their 8th round game against OP.
Tony Krajancic Keeps on keeping on with another good win beating Frank Keogh 28/19 while Graham Anderton jumped into the fray recording a solid win over Terry Ball 25/13
The very good result to John Trewhella will give the side some heart to go on from here after beating Tony O'Meehan 28/15.

==================================================

Yokine (6.5) beat Osborne Park (1.5)..................87/ 78...

This game didn't go as I thought, Yokine have a big win and further strengthened their position on the ladder with a good win over the in form OP.
Marko Krajancic,G. Elkins, M. Illich and T. Kay led the way for the Doggies beating John Goddard's rink 22/16
Stuart Bainbridge contributed alsO with a handy win over C. Guelfi 24/20
The top rink at OP Graham "Wings" Evans didn't exactly fly at the start of the game but soared to great heights managing a draw with Alan Davis 19/19 after being 2/15 down to lead 19/18 and finally draw the game.
This loss by OP will make it difficult from here on to have any chance to make the four
Yokine are a well balanced and close knit team and it is a big task to knock them over.
==================================================

Gosnells (4.5) drew Cambridge(3.5).....................85/ 85....

Gosnells would still be pretty happy to get 4.5 points in this game as would Cambridge getting 3.5 points. the loser would almost have been a certainty to be relegated.
The rink of this game was that of Trystan Smallacombe T. Walsh, N. Lewis and B. Kiely who had whopping big win over M. Yates's rink who has been going very well in their last few games, the size of this win is a complete surprise 31/15
Ron Stockden's side came from a long way back 4/19 down to lose by 24/19 to the good rink of Stein Davies.
Kevin Bairstow, Skippering for the first time this season had a big impact on the game winning against Scott Edmonds 23/12 One wonders why it has taken the "Big Bear" so long to come of hibernation, he has been a very good skip over the years and must stay in this position if Gosnells are to avoid relegation.
