February 12, 2005:

Cockburn (7) beat Bedford (1) ..........89/ 71.........

As expected, Cockburn rolled the Bedford Bulls, tho the bulls started out very well, they were unable to sustain the good start they enjoyed. The rink of Lance Strahan K. Collins, S.Shaw and John Carlsen won their game easily.
The Jones Boy and his rink got hammered, Barry Gartrell had a tight game and lost in the last few ends, Cliff Graybrook and rink were well and truley beaten.
For Cockburn three rinks of Dinko Golem, Russell Hughes and Daniel Brown were simply too good for Bedford.
Cockburn have shown the bowling world they mean business and showed Bedford there is quite a difference between the bottom and the top sides, the gulf is fairly wide.

=========================================================

A. Jones { skip}, L.Krajancic. Paul Hunter, Peter Hunter---------------10
D. Golem skip}, N. Pascoe ,J.Beswick, M. Musulin------------------------22
Guess we would have expected much, much more from this rink, the front half were beaten and the back half didn't fire to many big shells today, the rink won only six ends today and that clearly tells the story.
Dinko Golem played a very good game today as did his team mates.
Well I guess it's back to the drawing board to see what might have evolved from todays game..The 14 game cut off looms large for Bedford and we wonder what might eventuate in team selection.

Best Player for Cockburn was skipper Dinko Golem

=========================================================

Barry Gartrell {skip}, Neil Minchin , Bob Donovan, F. Andrich---17
D. Brown {skip}, M.Zusman ,J. Ravlich, P. Novak-------------------25

Well this game was nip and tuck for the first 16 ends where the score was 17--16 in Daneil Brown's favour and after last weeks belting the Gartrell rink put in a determined performance. They won 9 ends for the day.
Frank "Arivaderchi" Andrich had a good day at the office as did Bob Donovan the second. It was all to no avail as the back half didn't do the job we would have liked them to do.
Daniel Brown played a very good game and it was noticeable how many times the Cockburn rink converted when down at the head.
John Ravlich was another to hurt Bedford with his game.
For Bedford Frank."Arivaderchi".Andrich was Bedfords best with a good leaders game.

==========================================================

L. Strahan {skip},K. Collins, S. Shaw,J. Carlson....................27
S. Srhoy {skip},D. Penman ,J.Galipo , V. Beckley.................16.

shane ShawYoung Lance Strahan and his rearranged rink got away to a flyer and led 14-3 after 11 ends, and wouldn't anyone like a start to a game like that. Well the Big Slammer had other ideas and within four ends had narrowed the gap to 14-12 and everyone had a game on their hands, { or so we thought} and this is where the game took a sudden turn for the better for Lances rink, they picked up a one and then hit pay dirt with an eight, to lead 23-12.
The changes to his rink were very beneficial with Shane Shaw playing a good game in his new position as two and the inform Kevin Collins doing like wise as three.

Shane Shaw {pictured} played very well in his new position as a second today.

All players contributed to the win obviously, and by a wisker Bedfords best player was
Lance Strahan
For Cockburn, leader V. Beckley was best.
===========================================================

C.Graybrook {skip}, K. Burke, R. Rushforth, J. Bills.----------------17
R. Hughes {skip}, S. Cerff, G. Vaughan, M. Brown.-------------------26

maxThis game was a strange game for the Bedford rink, they started out with Cliff Graybrook on fire, making several conversions, to lead 7-1 after 5 ends, and on ten ends were still in front 12-9, from there on it was all hard work and lost 17-26.
The front three players for Bedford didn't play up to expectations and the score reflects that. However they won 11 ends to ten.
This Cockburn rink is the third best rink in the comp at the moment so it is no disgrace to lose to them, but the Bedford boys should have got a few more bowls closer to the Jack according to sources.

Max Brown {pictured} leading well for Russell Hughes

The best for Cockburn was their third
SteveCerff who was very consistant for the whole game.
Bedfords best was
Cliff.Graybrook .

Osborne.Park(7) beat Victoria Park (1)...........74/ 64.....
A great result for OP and a good return to the winners list for John Goddard's rink with a match winning result beating M. Crameri 21/14. { congratulations to John Goddard for winning his club singles on Friday against Rance Dewson}

Another most important rink win was that of " Wings" Evans in defeating the very reliable Justin Opie by one shot, not forgetting the valuable contribution of Cliff Guelfi's rink to beat Rooster 21/17.
Peter Harris's rink who haven't been at their best this season rallied behind the skipper to win the only point for VP knocking over the very good rink of D. Trewella 18-16.
Peters rink have now won two of their last three games against good opposition, maybe some good times ahead.
=============================================================

Doubleview(7) beat Melville (1)...............82/60.....
This game was clouded in sadness at the passing of the popular skipper Graham Anderton through the week.
The rinks were tight and hard fought affairs, with margins generally fairly narrow.
Robbie Ball led the way for DV winning 27-12 over the former Graham Anderton led rink.
John Rainoldi caused an upset by defeating Tony Krajancic's very well performed rink who had lost only two games for the season.... 19-15.
The only winner was Jeff Hall who has come good after a disasterous start to the season.
Lindsay Thorne and his boys keep winning and still lead the competition with another handy win against Tony O'Meehan 20-16

==================================================

Gosnells (6) beat Yokine (2)..................81/70...
We did predict this would be a win to Gosnells mainly on the grounds that the "BIG BEAR" Kevin Bairstow is out of hibernation and skippering again, { and don't they look better for it }with his rink turning it on against Stu Bainbridge, winning 22-12. He was backed up with a match winning performance of Bill Galloway's rink who slaughtered Alan Davis's rink to the tune of 29-11 who had rearranged the furniture with Ian Cooper taking over as skip for the day..
Best for the Doggies was Tom Norac who had a fine win over Stein Davies 25-12.

This loss may prove to be costly for the Doggies as far as what position they occupy in the final four come finals time.
==================================================

Cambridge (7) Safety Bay(1).....................86/ 64....
A most important win in the scheme of things for Cambridge and will possibly save their bacon from being relegated.

chrisAt last Cambridge have won a game with a three rink victory, and the best performed rink on that day was that of Scott Edmonds with an overdue win for Cambridge defeating Frank Keogh 27-15.
The best for Safety Bay was John Trewhella winning against the hot and cold rink of Ron Stockden 18-16.

Chris Lander {pictured} played a big role in yesterdays win
