Round Eight---
I have had puter probs and that is why this review has taken so long to get
it up
Produced a good result for Doubleview, Gosnells, Osborne Park, Melville and Cockburn----
Great win to Cockburn, winning the game of the round against Cambridge by 5 shots,85/80
to leave them well placed in second position on the ladder. Cambridge won again
on two rinks which they have managed to do most of the season, word around the
traps are there is discontent among the playing group and this is the last thing
that Cambridge need and may well pay the ultimate penalty with a demotion.
Those hot Doggies at Yokine are not barking after a surprise
loss to the unmagic magic Melville losing 78/89
The tipster had a reasonable day today managing to select two winners for the
round.
Doubleview doing Bedford over

Doubleview (7) beat Bedford (1) ..........99/
69.........
This was a game that Bedford would have pencilled in as a loss because it was
played at Doubleview { who have so many State reps} . What was important was a
good showing, this was not the case today.
Doubleview walloped Bedford by 30 shots. However there is one shining light for
Bedford in that Neil Minchin and his rink of K.Collins, B. Donovan and J.Carlsen
took a point of Dennis Katuna-rich {skip}, B. Urqhart. D. Slavich and C. Slavich
winning 30/16.
Are the the State selectors taking any notice of One Red results, do they count?
, surely there can be no excuses, Can there be any, the green
is the same for all.
The
great Denis Kat has been in a losing side for the last five games, however we
must remember that he is only one of the rink and not the whole rink.
Well done to the Bedford rink who were switched on and having their biggest win
for the season, pleasing to see that they thought it might be better to start
the game at 2.pm instead of their usual 3.30 pm

C.
Graybrook{skip},S.Shaw, R. Rushforth, J. Bills-------------11
L.Thorn{skip} J.Slavich, J. Dempsey, W. Langdon. --- -------29
A very good victory for Lindsay Thorn, and his rink who were leading 21/4
on the twelvth end, which means game over for the Bedford rink. The game result
ending 11/ 29 down for Cliff . One thing is for sure, Cliff ain't Happy. {never
is when a loss occurs} Meanwhile Lindsay is very, very happy
Best Player for DV Lindsay.Thorne while the winning
skipper of the State fours, Winton.Langdon who
was magnificent in this position, is now the leader in this rink, putting a polished
display
best for Bedford R. Rushforth
=========================================================
A. Jones { skip}, J. McGrath, Peter Hunter, A. Mayer---------------14
k. McIlroy{skip}, P. Buller, A. Delaporte, G. Papodoulas---------25
Well, gotta admit, this was a game where i thought we would have had a contest,
it takes four to tango, and, there was no tango today.
1/13 down for the " Jones Boy", and nowhere to go.
When the score card reads like this, all we can say is. disappointing fellas,
but happy you held the line from there on. Paul Hunter, the usual second was a
last minute withdrawal due to a foot prob, and was clearly missed today.
The best for Doubleview
The leader, Gary-Papadoulas who put in a very
solid game today with some top of the shelf leading to setup the victory.
Best for Bedford J.McGrath
=========================================================
Neil
Minchin {skip}, K. Collins, Bob Donovan,, J. Carlsen--------30
D. Katuna-rich{skip}, B. Urqhart,D. Slavich, C. Slavich--------16
A very good win to the boys, it was a nip and tuck affair with the score 11/7
in favour of Bedford, the game blew out from there with Bedford picking up 6/1/1
to lead 19/7, game over from here on with score equal from that point on. Bedford
won 14 ends to DV 7
John Carlsen {pictured} returned to the team and put in a solid
game
==========================================================
L. Strahan {skip},L. Krajancic, K. Burke, H.Matson.....14
R. Ball{skip},J. Rainoldi ,Jar. Rainoldi, Jason Thorne..29.
Nip and tuck for 16 ends and then a blow out, Talking to the boys after the game
they had a red hot go,then things got away from them, around the 16th end onward.
Rob Ball returns to the winners list after a four game losing streak, with a revamped
side, Hey who wouldn't like The great John Rainoldi in their side as the new third.
The word is that Jason/Thorn was the best player
today and John.Rainoldi was very good, for DV
Bedford best was Frank Andrich, tho he lost the leaders dual, was always around
the place.
Melvillle(6) beat Yokine
(2)............89/ 78.....
Melville turn it on with a great game for surprise win over the division leaders,
especially more so when it was played at Yokine. The rink of Tony Krajancic again
showed the way for Melville with a huge win over the reliable Stu Bainbridge 32/16
and Jeff Hall winning his second game for the season against the hard rink
to beat of M. Krajancic.
This win may be the tonic that the Magic needed to get back on course and help
to avoid relegation.
Alan Davis is the new leading skip of One Red with a
narrow win over Tony O'Meehan.
=============================================================
Gosnells(6) beat Victoria Park (2)...............72/71.....
Well we thought this was a danger game for VP, and it proved to be. Gosnells
are coming good, and would be very happy with Bill Galloway and his rink who
so
far have
not enjoyed much success, the win was over the leading rink in One Red of Justin
Opie?
==================================================
Osborne park (6) beat Safety Bay(2)...................93/
77...
As expected with Ossy park having a very good win and Graham Evans setting up
the win with a wopping scoreline of 30/12 over N. Crocker. Surprise loser was
J.Goddard's rink going down 15/25. D. Trewwlla keeps on keeping on with another
fine win also.
Graham Scott and Terry Ball have made a difference to Safety bay and will continue
to make it hard for opposing teams for the rest of the season.
==================================================
Cockburn (6) beat Cambridge (2).....................85/
80....
Sorry for the delay but had puter probs but all is well for now.
The game of the day and the result shows it to be so. It was a very close call
for Cambridge to get the big end of the points and would have been disappointing
to lose so narrowly. You have to admire the Cambridge players for their never
say die attitude and it is hard to remember a team winning on two rinks every
game bar one, Still, that the breaks and lets hope for their sake that they can
crack it soon for an aggregate win.
We did say that Cockburn can play on any surface and still bring home the bacon,
they are the leading team in the comp as far as wins go 6/2. And they still have
that thing about them that make it hard to beat the team.
Highlite of the
day would have been the clash between the rink of T
Smallacombe who knocked
over
one of the best rinks in the comp of R.Hughes both
went into this game with a 5/2 record.
