Round Four---

Produced a good result for Doubleview, Bedford, Gosnells, Cockburn and Victoria Park.----
The tipster was a little of the mark, and managing to select only one winner for the round. The competition is looking good, with many close games so far this season that could have gone either way, which of course helps to maintain the interest in what is happening.
Victoria Park just get there after team changes, Cockburn just falling over the line for the second week in a row, Doubleview flexing some muscle, Gosnells come out swinging to win their first game of the season and Bedford show true grit.

young gun Daneil_Brown remains to be the only unbeaten skipper after having a draw against John Goddard .....see One Red skip results.

Bedford (7) beat Melville (1) .......80/ 77.........

Must say, Bedford are over the moon with this win today, There have been forced changes on the team, along with last minute replacements, the replacements have stood up for the club, the selectors are showing some real professionalism in their thinking.
Players who filled in were Bob Norris and Vaughan Colley and both did an admiral job.
This is a victory to savour, and the boys let out a few bars of the new theme song as part of the happy feeling and celebrations at Bedford Bowling club.
They are aware there is a long way to go. Bedford are not getting carried away. Just very happy with where they are at for now, and more than aware of the heavy weather that lays ahead in the battle for supremacy in One Red..
I repeat, this is the best unit that Bedford have fielded in One Red for quite some time.

====================================================

C. Graybrook{skip}, B.Donovan, R. Rushforth, H. Matsen----23
T. Krajancic{skip}, G.Oakley, S. hughes, J. Birch--------------20

A game where the Bedford rink were under the pump and at one stage 6/14 down. To get out of that hole took some doing. looking at the final score, Bedford won 23/20.
As the pressure built for Melville it was noticable that Tony Krajancic's drives missed their mark, though he is one of the great hitters in the game, he may just be over doing it in this area and a draw shot might be the go on some of these occassions.
Best Player for Bedford Skipper Cliff Graybrook.
Best for Melville Skipper Tony_Krajancic who saved many shots with his drives in any case.

=========================================================

A. Jones { skip}, B. Norriss, Paul Hunter, A. Mayer---------------22
C. Fleay { skip}, B. Cousins, Tony O'Meehan. B. McCormack-----12
adiThis was something special for The Jones Boy, Been plugging away for little reward, and now getting something for the effort, at last!!!.
With a good front end of Adi Mayer {pictured} and Paul Hunter operating, makes the job a tad easier. Not withstanding the Jones Boy had a new third. Bob Norrisss who made his long awaited, and more than deserved debut in this division.

Regular third Kevin Burke was unavailable thru sickness, Will he get back into the side next week??????__________HHHHHmmmmmmm. I wonder--interesting!!!.

The rink of Colin Fleay is no pushover, especially at Melville. It was nip and tuck, 13/12 after 12 ends and both leaders doing a good job, from this point on, it was all Bedford who ran away with the game to win 22/12
Best Player for Bedford, second Paul Hunter again
for Melville, leader Shaun McCormack
=========================================================

Neil Minchin {skip}, K. Collins, Peter Hunter, V. Colley-----20
J. Hall{skip}, B. Girvan, G.McCormack, P. Andrews----------19

Neil Minchin Butters up for his second win this year and what a valuable point for Bedford. Jeff Hall and his rink are no easy beats. Great stuff Minchy and the rink, and a good start by Vaughan Colley who played his first game for Bedford in One Red
It was thought the best player for Bedford was Kevin Collins who has made a great start for the club in this position.
Best player for The Magic was B. Girvan

==========================================================

L. Strahan {skip} F. Andrich, D. Scott, J. Carlsen--------------- 15
G. Anderton {skip} N. Alexander, D. Vinci, J. Harber----------- 26

This game wasn't the best game for Lance Strahan, the front end beaten, Frank Andrich playing three for the first time in a long time, it was little wonder that the rink did struggle and never looked likely. This rink is not gelling and the stucture of the side may be in question and in need of change.
We can't take anything away from the great game that Melville Magic displayed.
Best Player for the Magic Graham Anderton who has done very well this season.
The man for Bedford yet again was Lance Strahan.

Doubleview (6) beatCambridge (2)............89/ 56 .....
Playing on a heavy track last night Doubleview put the heavies on Cambridge with a resounding win. Conditions were the same for both sides so really there are no excuses for Cambridge.
kyleWe see that the unbeaten run of Trystan Smallacombe and his rink came to an end, copping a 8/24 drubbing at the hands of Lindsay Thorne.
Very disappointing show by the rink of Steve Withers, Tim Murray, Greg Kane and Rodger Barns, losing 10/32 to Kyle McIlroy {pictured}.
It is part of the game, that teams will strike heavy tracks from time to time, the team that makes the adjustment quickly will carry the day {sorry...night}.
Doubleview are certainly on track and remain the team to beat this season. They are still continuing to shuffle their skippers around.

=============================================================

Victoria Park (6) Yokine (2)...............75/73.....
mark simpsonIn a close game which seems to be the norm for VP and a lot riding on it, the rink of Justin Opie {skip} Mark Simpson, Nev Young and Tom Reid again carried the day for VP with another good win, 26/17 over Stuart Bainbridge.

Mark Simpson {pictured}having a good season playing Three..

While Syd McCann had a handy win 20/14 over new skipper, Maurice Crameri.
Those Doggies cant get their bark going in home matches and would be disappointed with another narrow loss, and especially with the rink of S. Bainbridge losing 17/26, they have won 2 games and have an aggregate shots of -13.

==================================================

Gosnells (7) Safety Bay (1)...................86/ 67...
Good to see the boys from the other side of town get their first win this season after making neccassary team changes. The win helps to keep them in touch of avoiding the dreaded relegation zone.
A strong win by Trevor Gibbs 28/15 over the well performed SB rink of John Smith, setup this important win today.
Safety Bay look like they are still searching for better rink structures and we will keep an eye out for that.

==================================================

Cockburn (6.5) Osborne park(1.5).....................76/ 74....
dinkoCockburn Fall over the line again, however that is all you have to do to get the big end of the points. The game score shows how close OP came to winning this game and it tells us how competitive they are, still,they only got 1.5 points for this very good effort in this game.

Dinko Golem{pictured} In his first year as skipper for Cockburn.

Daneil Brown continues his good form and remains the only unbeaten rink in One Red pennants so far this season while Russell Hughes and his rink are showing how hard it is to beat them with another good win today.
Best for the Park was Daneil Trewella{skip} Pat Caffell, Ron Francesconi and Paul Fair with a handy 20/16 win over Dinko Golem.
