Produced a good result for Yokine,Melville, Victoria Park, Doubleview and Cockburn
A good win to Doubleview, winning the game of the round against Ossy Park by 11 shots,79/68 in a tight game at Osborne Park winning on all rinks.

Yokine beat Bedford 83/72 in a great game of bowls and in front of a good crowd that had plenty of atmosphere. This game was played in memory of Archie Marriot.

The tipster had a reasonable day today managing to select three winners for the round.

Yokine (6) beat Bedford (2) ..........83/ 72.........
Well, must say that the best side, Yokine, won today, unfortunetly for Bedford the scoreboard tells us the tale. The old saying proves right, winners are grinners, also the Yokine team were humble in their victory in a great struggle for the points which was decided in the last few ends.
There were most noteable differrences between the two teams, The closeness of the players from Yokine, Geewhizz, they all played for one and other, they were all on the same boat and all rowing in the same direction.Thats not to say that Bedford aren't pulling together, they are.
Credit to the leadership of the Yokine club and from where i sat in the crowd one wondered if we {Bedford} could get something going like what they had, the contrast was so different.
I arrived at the club after our Doubleview game there was a very good atmosphere with all rinks were going at it hammer and tongs, the bowls were clearly One Red standard, there was lots hanging on the result. However Yokine were simply too focused and to good in the clinches, when the big bowls had to be played, Those goddarn Doggies played them.
This game was played as a memorial in honour of the late Archie Marriot who represented both clubs at the highest level
A side note regarding Archie, when informed of such a thing would occurr at his wake, bought tears to Archies eyes, Thankyou Syd McCann for your recognition and kind thoughtfulness to this occassion in his memeory and for Bedfords whole hearted support.
Perhaps paying attention to detail is just one of the things that makes you so well thought of in the bowling communuity Syd.

I was fortunate that after the game that Syd and I had a chat, and I asked him if the Thursday incident helped motivate the side, NO WAY!! Syd had only one message for the team today, play for the club give your all. Today is a new day lets do it..something like that......
More from Syd in later postings.
Overall this concept as a one off was a good result for Lawn Bowls, good crowd, good atmosphere, and plenty of great bowls.

deanC. Graybrook{skip},K.Burke, R. Rushforth, J. Bills-------------23
T. Norac{skip} S.McCann, J. Carpenter, D. Pasalich. --- ------19
From where I sat this was a very high standard game, a bit of push and shove, a tickle here a tickle there. however Cliff did have a very good lead 16/5 only to see it whittled away to finally win 23/19 the game was keenly contested, and credit to the Doggies for getting back into the game and nearly winning it.
Cliff kept our Bedford tradition going against Tom Norac, who has never, never won a game in his many clashes against Bedford since he left the club all those years ago...thankyou Cliff and well done. ..I don't have best players for this game. But from what i saw CG, was the man. and the "Box" put in some big ones also.
Talking to Syd he said it was a very hard rink to get a hang of, and that was the main reason for the slow start.

The talented Dean Pasalich {pictured at right} concentrating on where his bowl will land

A. Jones { skip}, L.Krajancic. Paul Hunter, Peter Hunter---------------12
S. Bainbridge{skip}, D. Robinson, B. Raynor, C. Greenhalg-------------22

Sorry to say but the whole town is not talking about the "the Jones boy" today,
lernnnybut in fairness he had a good game today but was up against it, The game was very hardfought and the scores were 10/10 all on the 12th end and this is where the Doggies got dinkum and run away with a good win.
Craig Greenhalg putting in some good pills and Skipper Stu Bainbridge playing some magnificent bowls, being the main reasons behind the handsome win today, and how could we forget to say that Dean Robertson had a big influence on the outcome also, The Bedford boys gave it their all but just couldn't do the job today.

The overall best players were Stu-Bainbridge and Dean Robertson
Best for Bedford Len-Krajancic {pictured} watching intensely as his bowl comes to rest.

This report was compiled by our roving reporter all the way from Merridan "Spike" Jones, thanks Spike for covering it mate

Barry Gartrell {skip}, Neil Minchin , Bob Donovan,, J. Carlsen---14
Marko Krajancic{skip}, G. Elkins ,M. Ilich, T. Kay---------------21

This was a changed rink at the request of Neil Minchin, who had performed so well for the Bulls up to this point of time, today this rink got the chop chop,the score was 10/10 on the 13th end and it was from here that the Doggies put their foot on the accelerator.
Speaking with Marko after the game he said there wasn't a lot of difference either way except for a couple of very good conversions at the critical time of the game
Mark felt that Mark-Illich was the man to be best player today and no player for bedford would get in the votes... as they say..scoreboard always tells the story..butI didnt say that!!!
This score line is a tad dissappointing considering that it was the leading rink,and now we wonder what will happen from this point of time on for this rink!!!

Marko and his rink just keep rolling along, .winning winning winning
==========================================================

L. Strahan {skip},S.Shaw, K.Collins F. Andrich..............23
A .Davis{skip},I. Cooper ,J.. Gallop, J. Lorencs...............21.

Today we saw Lance Strahan strut his stuff, taking on the top rink of the comp and turning their lights off coming from a 2/9 deficit and overhaul them right on the line picking up two fours to lead 23/17.......... Picking up 21 shots to 8
lance was fired up for this game and played accordingly with some big shells when it mattered most, he has made a huge difference to the club with his very positive attitude
Word is Kevin-Collins had a big, big game today and that is how the rink got back into the game and go on to an important win

Doubleview(8) beat Osborne Park (0)............79/ 68.....
Doubleview collected all the points in a close game at Ossy Park. We did say that feathers would fly and looking at the rink scores it would have had all the hallmarks of a great contest. So OP now know where they are at, and would be sorry about losing but happy with their game. It would seem that from here on they have stamped themselves as a genuine top side and would be aware that their are only four spots in the finals.
The two leading rinks at OP, "wings" Evans and D. Trewela had gigantic games losing by one shot apiece.
Doubleview showed their class by winning this away game and Den Kat would be relieved to end his losing streak of 5 losses today, Lindsay Thorne and Kyle Mac just keep rolling along building up those points.
There was four former OP players playing for DV in this game today.

=============================================================

Cockburn(7) beat Gosnells (1)...............80/72.....

A win as expected for the Cockburn boys winning on three rinks, and showing they are a real force in the competion while the rink of Bill Galloway continues to impress with a good win over another quality opponent D. Brown
Any points are handy as Gosnells will not want to be relegated.

==================================================

Victoria Park (8) beat Safety Bay(0)...................112/ 63...
Victoria Park slaughtered SB with the highest total so far this season 112 shots.
Terry Ball and Graham Scott were not in the SB lineup..don't know why they were missing. Safety Bay just are not competive enough and for them the seasons end can't come quickly enough.
Good to see Peter Harris get a much needed win against Gary Carberry who has had some good wins this year.

==================================================

Melville (6) beat Cambridge (2).....................83/ 64....
A very good win for Melville, and just maybe they have turned the corner. In a battle of the giants, Tony Krajancic beat Trystan Smallacombe and got the point 29/21 that was only Trystans third loss for the year. Tony and his rink are very hard to beat and have been the mainstay for Melville this year
Cambridge did it again winning on two rinks, would be great for another rink to win for them, we have to say that Cambridge are a two rink team from now on.
From here they are in a battle to avoid relegation and that will be their main focus from now on.
