cliffOsborne.Park (5) beat Bedford (3) ..........75/ 75.........
What game out at Osborne park!!!!,
the 3.30 pm start didn't faze Bedford who were well and truly prepared for today's game, knowing what was at stake, putting mind to task and played accordingly.
The old warrior Cliff Graybrook {pictured}and his rink showed their class with a handy win over D. Trewella and almost won the game for Bedford, the rink seems to have gone from strength to strength since the inclusion of leader John Bills.
The Big result for OP was the rink of Cliff Guelfi who came from the clouds to win their rink and help to draw the aggregate winning over the unlucky "Jones Boy" by picking up 5 of the biggest shots you would ever want on the second last end of the whole game.
The other rinks of Osborne park "wings" Evans and "mick" Goddard did the job they had to by winning their games.
The Bulls were shattered as they led the aggregate by 6 shots with two ends to go, only to end up with a draw, another so close, yet so far result to fall short of the mark. Guess this is making the boys all that much more match hardened.
This showing does say that the Bulls are always having a go and will fight tooth and nail to save themselves from the dreaded relegation zone.

D. Trewella{skip} P .Caffell, R. Francesconi, P. Fair --- ---------15
This was a great win By Cliff and his rink, always had the game in hand and was leading 17/9 on the fourteenth end. He was getting great service out of leader John Bills, along with his teammates who were getting in on the act also.
Daniel Trewella had a big game again today, however he couldn't hold the Bedford rink down as he would have liked.
Best for Bedford was the leader John Bills and Cliff Graybrook
Best Player for OP Daniel Trewella

A. Jones { skip}, L.Krajancic. Paul Hunter, Peter Hunter---------------18
C. Guelfi skip}, K. Guelfi,J. Tyrer, H. Golding-----------------------------19

Well!!! what could have been, wasn't to be for the "Jones Boy" and his rink, they led 12/7 on the 11th end----18/14 on the second last end only to drop 5 on the last end of his game to lose his rink, and the Bulls draw the game. He was a tad unlucky just missing out on drawing the shot after a huge drive that did not bring the desired result. Perhaps a rethink on when to drive and not to drive might be neccessary from the Jones Boy as part of a learning curve on his game plan in One Red.
After leading for a lot of the game and leader Peter Hunter doing his bit, a win was looking on the cards, however the game is over 21 ends and there was a lot of disappointment in the camp at this loss, there was plenty of pressure on the Jones Boy with his last two bowls.
Both Guelfi boys had a good game but the nod went to the second J. Tyrer
Best for Bedford was Peter Hunter. and Andrew Jones

Barry Gartrell {skip}, Neil Minchin , Bob Donovan,, J. Carlsen---18
John Goddard {skip}, G. King ,G.Gray, P. Maynard----------------20

A narrow win here to John Goddard after leading 20/9 on the 17th end then scraping over the line by two shots. The Goddard rink seems to struggle a lot when we look at the stats from their games. A win is a win none the less.
Today he got really good service from the leader Peter Maynard who set up the big lead his rink had.
Barry Gartrell had a pretty big day and saved the situation on many occasions, it is not a bad effort from him considering he has only just got back into bowls, lets hope you can keep up the great work from here on Barry.

Best for Osborne Park was the leader Peter Maynard
Best for Bedford was Skipper Barry Gartrell

L. Strahan {skip},S.Shaw, K.Collins F. Andrich..............17
G.Evans{skip},I. Payne ,D. Eaton , M. Wilhelm...............21.
A good close go for Lance and the boys but not quite making this most important game a winner, they were 9/19 down on the 15th end and staged a terrific comeback from here to end up losing by only 4 shots.
This OP rink continues to impress as the season rolls onward to the finals,

Best players for OP were Doug.Eaton and Skipper "Wings".Evans. who is having a great season as skipper.
K. Collins was best for Bedford

robbieDoubleview(6) beat Victoria Park (2)............78/ 66.....
The clash of the giants and at least VP can say they made a huge improvement on their first round clash with DV.
Doubleveiw have beaten OP and VP away from home and seem to be heading into their best form for the season
The game between the heavyweights of the competition, top rink J. Opie and the second top rink Lindsay Thorne appeared to be a very hard fought game with the scoreline 18/12 to Lindsay. His rink is now the best performed rink in One Red
Robbie Ball set up this win with a huge win over M. Crameri 27/12 ending what chance VP may have had.
Good to see Peter Harris's rink win in this most important of games getting hold of Kyle Mac to win 19/16.

Robbie Ball {pictured} Set up the win against VP

Cockburn(8) beat Safety Bay(0)...............107/57.....

A win as expected for the Cockburn boys winning on all rinks, and showing they are a real force in the competion. They would have been expected to win 8/0, and add to the percentage. Russell Hughes rink carried on with another good game along with Dinko Golem to bury the Bay boys.

tomYokine (5.5) beat Cambridge(2.5)...................83/ 74...

The Doggies scrape through this game courtesy of Tom Norac's rink with a match winning score over Chris Lander's rink 26/10.
What a heart break for Cambridge to win on 2.5 rinks and still lose the game, they have been unbelievable in that they have the perfect average of winning on two rinks in ten games played so far, surely the hoodoo will be broken soon.
Trystan Smallacombe's rink continues to shine beating Marko Krajancic 23/21 and it shows how hard it is to win all the time when we see the quality of the Rinks week in week out, not an easy game in One Red.

Tom Norac {pictured } taking a breather in the game at Cambridge.

Melville (7) beat Gosnells (1).....................106/ 68....
A very good win for Melville, Tony Krajancic beat R. Cruickshank 30/9, and Jeff Hall's rink seems to have turned the corner after a disasterous first round winning only 3 games out 9, winning his game against the well performed rink of Stein Davies 33/10 which is surprising for Stein, going on the form that they have displayed so far this season.
Graham Anderton won by two shots over the vastly improved Bill Galloway's rink.
One would have thought Gosnells would have been closer to Melville today but the greens may have been too good for Gosnells pace wise.
