Round Three
Produced a good result for Ossy Park, Yokine, Melville, Cockburn and Cambridge.
The tipster was a little of the mark missing out narrowly on Doubleview and Bedford. The competition is general is looking healthy and that is most important, we don't need a boring comp like we had last season. Perhaps Safety Bay and Gosnells may be able to pull their socks up as we go deeper into the season.
There are only two skippers that remain unbeaten, they being Trystan Smallacombe and Daneil Brown see 1 red skip results.

Cockburn(6) beat Bedford(2) .......74/ 72.........
A really good game today at Bedford, Cockburn just falling over the line to win a great battle for the points. Anyone's game right up to the last bowl of the game where a conversion from Cliff graybrook would have been enough to win the aggregate.
We have said that Bedford would win this game against one of the power houses of the competition in Cockburn, well the Bedford boys just fell short, they would and should be encouraged with this performance.
However in this competition it is not easy to win any game, encouraging losing displays do not get you those vital points. There is only one thing that counts.
WIN,WIN, WIN.
We can only say congrats to the very experienced Cockburn unit who came to play on the Bedford Carpet and went home with the big end of the points.

D. Brown {skip}.M. Zusman, J. Ravilich, D. Salvetti.---------19
C. Graybrook{skip}, B.Donovan, R. Rushforth, H. Matsen----14

A game where we would have expected C. Graybrook to win considering the brilliant form he has displayed over the last two games, however it was the CB boys who got the jump and held onto their lead -- it was this game that decided who would win the aggregate with Cliff just missing to convert with the last bowl of the game. Young Gun Daniel Brown was the unanimous pick as best player of this game.
Best player Daniel Brown

paulD. Golem { skip}, N.Pascoe, G.Conner, P. Sardelic-------21
A. Jones { skip}, K. Burke, Paul Hunter, A. Mayer---------29

The Jones boy brings home the bacon with his first win in Red, and what a great game and feeling of relief after losing narrowly in his first two games. They led 9/0 early in the game and that was a nice buffer to get them through for this win against some talented opponents. Imagine that some of the spectators ( Spike and Starky ) came all the way from Merridan today to support Andrew, and were very happy to see his maiden win in One Red Pennants, that is what you would call having great freinds.
Paul_Hunter {pictured}has been having a terrific season playing two for Jonesie and it was thought he was the best player today..

R. Hughes {skip}, S. Cerff, G. Vaughan, M.Brown----------------16
Neil Minchin {skip}, K. Collins, Peter Hunter, F. Andrich------18

Neil Minchin has his first win in One Red Pennants this season, and what a win considering who the opposition was. The leading skipper, Russell Hughes who has been sensational in his first two games, and his team.
It was the leader Frank Andrich who set up the win by very consistent leading and everyone else following the leader, there wasn't much in the game as the score indicates, Speaking with Russell after the game he said that the rink didn't come to terms with the carpet and struggled, that said, it was a good effort.
Best player for Bedford Frank Andrich.
for Cockburn. it was thought Glen Vaughan was the man.

S.Srhoy{skip} N.Penman, J.Galipo,B. Beckley.----------------18
L. Strahan {skip} N. Watson, D. Scott, J. Carlsen--------------- 11

Steve Srhoy and his team haven't been all that flash so far this year. one win and one loss with a -14. What a time to come good for Cockburn, It was a timely win and helped the Cockburn cause no end.
The Bedford boys didn't get the start that they would have liked and it made it hard for the backend. When they did have the close bowls Steve Srhoy altered the situation. Lance was disappointed with the effort today and will be hoping for better things in the coming weeks.
Best Player for Cockburn SteveSrhoy Best player for Bedford LanceStrahan was the man.

Osborne Park(7) beatVictoria Park (1)............78/ 77 .....
Tremendous game and was the blockbuster for the round, the scoreline tells the story. JohnGoddard's rink continues to impress with a nice win over Jeff. Mitchell.
justinAfter seeing Justin Opie {pictured} in action last week against Bedford it is little surprise to see his rink almost win it for VP, however the size of the loss by Ian Payne's rink seems to suggest that some change is needed because that rink has cost them a victory at Bedford {9/22} in the first game of the season and almost cost the game yesterday, {11/29}.The cupboard looks a little bare in OP Blue but i can see one player that would be of help.

VP would be unhappy with a one shot loss and only one point for their effort, They haven't hit their best form as yet.

Melville (5) beat Doubleview (3)...............81/ 75.....

Melville did produce the magic and won against the odds at Doubleview although it was on only one rink, that of Tony Krajancic {skip} G.Oakley. S. Hughes and J. Birch, knocking over Kyle McIlroy by 12 shots. The good thing for the Magic was the losing rinks were able to keep the losing scores very tight.
Melville are traveling very nicely at the moment and I have under estimated this team.
Doubleview with all that strength in their team have lost two games in a row, but wouldn't be overly concerned as there is a long way to go, but a win for Melville is what the competition needs to keep it interesting.

Cambridge (6) beat Safety Bay (2)....................86/ 72....

A well deserved win to Cambridge on the Bay synthetic. The rink of Justin Smallacombe {skip} N. Lewis, J. Dawson and W. Maher carried the day for the Knights with a handy 27/14 win along with The Withers led rink..
In a must win game it was the rink of Frank Keough that let the Bay down losing 12/27 to Steve Withers.
Gary Carberry and his rink have continued the good form for the Bay and need some help-- at the moment Safety Bay are at the very least a rink short of what is needed to survive in One Red.
Cambridge would be more than happy to come away from Safety Bay with 6 big points.

Yokine (8) beat Gosnells (0).....................89/ 62....
Here come the Doggies, as predicted, a win for them with Marko Krajancic {skip}, G. Elkins, L. Lorencs and T. Kay doing the job over Bill Galloway 25/10
Coach Syd McCann would be very happy with the way things are going at the moment and you can't get better than 8 points for any game.
Where to for Gosnells is anyone's guess, the rink loss's wern't all that bad bar one, so there is a glimmer of hope for better things to come for Gosnells.
