How will they go
We have an outstanding set of finals ahead of us with little separating these
four great teams. At various times through the year we have seen the form of
these sides
fluctuate slightly and when they lose it has generally been a small loss.
Cockburn have finished in top position losing only three games for the season
which is a mighty effort, however there were many close games that could have
gone either way for them. Doubleview,
the favourites, beaten only 5 times is a great performance, losing four of
those games to Yokine and Cockburn.
Yokine have had a terrific year and should have
finished higher than they did, and
were
never
badly beaten
in a game except for the Gosnells clash
Osborne Park had a fantastic second round losing only two games to qualify
for the finals and would be the most improved side in the second round.
All teams are very close in skill and ability and any one team could win the
flag

It would appear that The Doggies have wood over OP when we see the results
of the the two games they have played during the qualifying rounds.
The teams are very evenly matched as we can see by the leading skippers
for each of the clubs.
There
will be no advantage green wise for either side as the game will be played
at
Cockburn.
Perhaps things could favour Yokine, as five of
their
players
know the greens so well, having played many games for Cockburn. Yokine played
Cockburn Recently winning on three rinks and losing the aggregate by three shots.
Dean Pasalich {pictured} leading for Tom Norac
Osborne Park has had a blistering second round and lost ever so narrowly
{4 shots} to
Doubleview
away from home indicates they are on song and ready for anything. they have
three terrific rinks and Cliff Guelfi is doing a very god job for OP.
It is hard to pick the winner between these two terrific sides.
Anything is possible either side can win

Cockburn V Doubleview
First round.... Cockburn
won 77 - 71------- 6 - 2
2cnd round....Cockburn won 89 - 71------- 7 - 1
Cockburn have been tremendous this season and hold a huge advantage as
the game is at Cockburn, and also have held the whip hand with two great
wins through the qualifying rounds.
Both sides have the best rinks in
one red playing for them. Rus Hughes for cockburn
and Lindsay Thorne for Doubleview and after that both teams tail off a
little with stats showing
them to be about even on rinks
Cockburn couldn't do any better in a season if they tried and they have
done it with what doesn't seem to be an outstanding list of players, but
they have combined, and played with the Cockburn spirit of old. They won
many many close
games
this year and tells us how they can handle the pressure. Perhaps their
best win for the season was against DV in the second round at DV when they
were
down 6/29 after 10 ends and flew home scoring 83 shots to 42.
Doubleview are the logical favourites for the flag with many of their players
in the State side, and some close to being in it. With only five losses
and the best aggregate, along with recent good form suggests they are ready
as they ever will be for a final series.
Bruce Urqhart {pictured} sure to play a big part in the final
Robbie Ball was in career best form against Bedford a fortnight ago and
will be looking for that form to continue and if it does, it will greatly
enhance DV chances
The $64 question is can he?
If DV can contain the Hughes led rink that also will give them a better chance
of victory. A couple of the cockburn rinks have real skinny aggregates and
that is a concern.
Picking the winner again is no easy task

Kalamunda V Nth Beach
Well it is going to be on for young and old.
Kalamunda did the job on Leeming last week and their senior players came
to the party.
Rick Eddy and his rink along with Neil Payne's rink had an impact on the
game and helped the win. However victory was not important for Kalamunda
in last weeks game, but
none the less they have
really
struck pay dirt with
big and important wins at this time of the year and augers well for them
Billy Brandsma rink went down last week and they aren't as hard to beat
as they were earlier in the season where they were unbeatable, they have
lost their last 5 games while Neil Griffen's rink has had a great season.
Can any Kalamunda rink put Nth Beach's Ted Potter away in this game, he and
his rink are the best performed rink in One White, the stats say no, and
the Kalamunda rink that draws Ted will have to play a super game
if Kalamunda are to win on this rink.
Derek Bowen has overcome a bad start to the season to win his last 5 games
and he wont be easy to beat either.

WannerooV Leeming
the "Wanneroo Express" has arrived in One Red. Now to tidy up
the loose ends, like bringing home the flag. But does it matter!!! They
have the most important prize, PROMOTION, but
no doubt they will give it the herbs to win the pennant.
Their skips are all very good players and have done it well this season, with
Ron Bates just getting to be top Wanneroo skip for the year in the last
game of the home and away season.
Wayne Heldt {pictured} Second best rink in One White.
In
both home and away games against Leeming which were both played at leeming,
Wanneroo were far to good for Leeming and what has Leeming done to show
they can
win this game? nothing really!! they folded under pressure when they
had to produce against Kalamunda, the prize if they won was automatic
promotion
to One
Red.
We might assume either they didn't want the promotion or they weren't good
enough. However they can still make it to the grand final and qualify
to play in One Red next season

take out this game and go on and win the Premiership.

WarwickV Thornlie
Warwick
are clearly the best team in One Blue with a great contribution from the rink
of Brian Freind, not forgetting John Mather who has not played the last
two games, Gordon Rodger and Bill Hogarth, these rinks have taken on all and
come up trumps on many occasions
John Mather {pictured} has had a good season
Brian Freind in particular who has played only 14 games and has an agg of +128
has
to tell us something as to how Warwick will go.
Thornlie have had a terrific year to finish second and really lifted from last
year, four fairly good rinks and the leading rink in One Blue, that of Les Carruthers.
I don't think they can get over the top of Warwick
