Round 13 Premier division Click here to return to Pennant Scene

Morley and Leeming completed the 13th
round, with Morley coming up trumps in the battle of the bottom. This was
the final nail in the coffin for Leeming who would need a miracle to survive
demotion.
This was a very important win today in the scheme of things for Morley,
who after some positional changes leading into their game against the Saints
last week and carrying on into this game have now won
their last two games. Their next game which is against Kalamunda will be
a further opportunity to consolidate these two wins

The win was set up by Wayne Neilson and his rink who have come good defeating
the Saint's Bill Galloway last week, and following on today with a very
solid win over R. Ryder's rink and was backed up by Bruce Walter's rink
who have now won two games this season and the importance of this rink win
was vital.
Peter Aungier Morley (pictured) has had a great season for Morley
Peter Aungier's rink weren't going to miss out and also played their part
with a narrow win against the so far winless Jimbo Connor, who is almost
on the verge of a win soon.
Danny Comrie's rink again have shown they are no easybeats and the win and
margin against "GoKart" Urquhart is not an easy feat to accomplish.
Dan's rink are the best rink down at Leeming and I am certain that other
rinks that they play in the remaining five games are going to have their
work cut out for them if they are to get over his rink.

Another huge upset today when Kalamunda defeated the PowerHouse at Doubleview.
Mike Zusman did say on his radio show on 90.5 FM that the PowerHouse sometimes
don't win follow on Sunday games after Saturday night celebrations. What can
we say, except that Lawn Bowls is a funny, funny game.
Cockburn continued on with their march to make the finals, getting hold of
Melville Magic down at Cockburn, winning 8 very big points.
Highlight of the game was Anthony Provost suffered his first loss for the
season at the hands of Gary Carberry who won 22/19.

Osborne Park Saints belted the Bedford Bulls in no uncertain fashion out at
the Park. After yesterday's shock loss to Morley the Saints definetly
lifted a notch or two. On a windy day and a terrific green, Osborne Park played
superb bowls to stifle any hope the Bulls had to win this game.
Wannero Express kept their hopes alive
with a good win against Cambridge who were pretty good against the Bulls yesterday.
Morley and Leeming will play next Saturday and will be the only Premier League
game and it will complete round 13

Sherro didn't mark any game today and went along just to watch the whole
game.
Well it so happened that there were two great rink clashes, Pieter
Harris V Daniel Trewhella and Stu Bainbridge V Gary Caffell. What a
card and to be able to see these heavy weights of the game on the same
green was great.
The game between Pieter and Daniel was a brilliant game to watch and
the way Daniel Trewhella played he showed he is made of the right stuff
to skip at State level. Mind you Pieter Harris also played a mighty
fine game. Actually this game was fought in the back half for both
sides. They were going to decide who would win or lose.
Cliff Graybrook and Pat Caffell has a right royal battle between themselves,
both were extremely good and the standard that this game
was played at from the back half was a pleasure to watch.
The man to standout was the brilliant Daniel Trewhella who had magnificent
touch in this game and he rarely wasted a bowl. When the pressure was on
and that was for the most part of the game he would drive, draw or play
a correct weighted shot into the head. A magnifcent performance Daniel.
Pieter Harris was not very far behind Daniel and played a big role to get
Bedford back into the game in the last 5 ends.
Mel Lemos won the leaders dual against the very promising and enthusiastic
Steve Wattleworth who also had a good day.

Sherro lost a lotto ticket to Mike Zusman. Mike claimed this weekend would
see the first loss for Anthony Provost. And the surprise of it was that
Gary Carberry's rink who have lost their last two games have claimed the
honour of stopping the Big Ant's run. Word is the Ant played a great game.
Also Mike claimed Cockburn would take all the points for this game and
how right he was.
Cockburn seem to have found that famous fighting spirit again, they have
answered every challenge in their endeavour to make the finals and have
won 6 games straight and are looking good.
There were changes to the Melville lineup and to Anthony Provost's rink.
Not sure why there would be changes, but they have backfired.
Melville
are feeling the pinch somewhat when they take on the strong sides and it
looks like they might yet again fall short. Sherro wouldn't write
them off just yet but today has shown there are some flaws in their game
plan and selection policy.
