Round 17 Premier division Click here to return to Pennant Scene

March 17, 2007.
Another great round of pennants and we see the Bedford Bulls return to form with a monster win against the Wanneroo Express. The loss last week against Leeming has probably cost them a place in the final four but they do still have a chance, depending on how other games go.
OsbornePark Saints grab those vital points against the Cockburn Roosters at Cockburn. Steve Srhoy who won the game against Bedford with a brilliant bowl has suffered two defeats since that game and his huge loss yesterday to John Goddard may prove to be the difference of whether they make the four or not.
Doubleview win and finish the season on top after their defeat of Cambridge by one shot and will be the team to beat for the flag. Cambridge have done well after a poor start to the season and are not that far away from the best teams in the competition
Melville beat Morley by one shot in a tight and tense game. The win still might not be enough to ensure they will make the final four. Melville needed to get maximum points to guarantee a place in the finals. Morley done well to almost win but fail to make sure that remain in the Premier League next season. Next week will tell the story for them
Kalamunda won as expected and have left the door wide open for them to retain a place in the Premier League after beating Leeming who have now departed the scene but not before playing a major role on the make up of what the final four will be..

It is hard to believe that this Bedford team could not beat Leeming at home last week and today they have trounced the Wanneroo Express who have been so inconsistent that to predict a win for them in really a lucky guess .
Cliff Graybrook returned to the skippering role and along with his team mates set up this win with a towering win against Stein Davies who has had pretty fair sort of a year.
Lance Strahan has not played in his usual role of Skipper and will finish the season playing three to Pieter Harris. The rink were far to strong for New Skip Ron Bates who has replaced Geoff Ellis for the rest of the season.

Clive Adams's rink have been very busy this season and come away with another big win, this time against the Jones Boy who also had his rink reshuffled .

Stu Bainbridge has now won his last two after beating Neville Stevens by 10 shots His rink is the number one rink at Bedford.

The Melville Magic won by a mere 1 shot and the win was mainly to the leading rink in the Premier League, that of Anthony Provostwho had a massive win against Bruce Walter's rink taking the game 30/13. A disappointing result for Bruce and his team with relegation staring the club in the face.

Jon Sharp won by 5 against John Hieden who played his first game as a skipper, reports indicate that he did a very good job for his club and to lose by five against Jon Sharp in your first game is a great effort.

Wayne Neilson and his rink almost got Morley over the line with a massive win against Melville's Rhett Butler. Wayne and his rink have been very competitive for quite a while now.

Peter Aungier got hold of Cameron Girvan to bing up a handy win

While this game had not much bearing on the make up of the final four it is clear that Cambridge felt that it did. Cambridge made a statement to the bowling world that they are not a long way away from what it might take to be part of the finals and to get within one shot of the PowerHouse who are clear favourites for the flag is a very good performance.
The PowerHouse look a little shakey if Kalamunda can beat them andCambridge can push them to the limit. However it matters not, by how much a team wins by, as long as a win is registered. This is what the powerHouse did today

Both Clubs reshuffled their sides around for this game and the result was telling for Kalamnda who collected 7.5 points for the game
All Kalamunda rinks won except for the rink of Neil Payne who managed a draw with the in form rink of Ross ryder
Kalamunda now have every chance to remain in the Premier League after this important win

The Osborne Saints have done well to beat Cockburn at Cockburn and in particular the Rink of John Goddard who rolled Steve Srhoy's boys giving them a belting. John Goddard has been playing at his best over the past few games has had an impressive season.
Gary Caffell just snuck across the line today playing against fill in skipper Joe Galipo who replaced Daniel Brown who attended a wedding.
Speaking with Mike Zusman after the game he said that the leaders performance of Justin Coleman was outstanding and worthy of 9.5 out of 10 for his game.
Sherro also spoke with Gary Caffell after the Bedford game and Gary was very praiseworthy of Justins performance this season. State honours await this fine young player
This makes the performance of Joe's rink a very meritorious one indeed to almost overcome the second best performed rink in the Premier League to lose by one shot to Gary's rink

A very happy Justin Coleman (pictured) played a blinder in the leaders position for the Saints against Joe Galipo yesterday at Cockburn

Russell Hughes has continued on his merry way with another win getting the well performed rink of Daniel Trewhella by one shot in this most important game.
While Gary Carberry beat Bill Galloway's rink by three shots
