The Bedford Bulls are on a roll, following up on yesterdays win against the Powerhouse with a huge win against Morley this afternoon. Most would have tipped Bedford to win
Melville Magic have beaten Leeming 8/0 and are on top of the table, the $64 question is who is going to beat them?
Osborne Park break thru for their first win against the Powerhouse who are winless at this early stage of the season
The Wanneroo Express are going well with a tidy win against the giant killers of the competition Kalamunda
The Cockburn Roosters who had their feathers ruffled in the opening round came back hard to send the Cambridge Knights back to Floreat with only one point showing on the score sheet.

Bedford Bulls (7.5 ) DEF Morley (0.5) ......96/58

L.Strahan (skip), D.Wood,  G.Hill,  P.Healy-------------------29
J. Armstrong , B. Walter, M. Robinson, B. Urquhart ----------15

The game started out with the Morley boys well on top and getting plenty of Bowls around the head with Greg Hill finding the line and weight best for the front three for Bedford, the Bulls leader and the third had not adjusted to the conditions at the 5 end stage. Lance Strahan played a great skippers backup role, saving the rink with with timely draw shots or cutting the count down. The first 5 ends saw the score level at 5/5 and Lance would have nearly earnt them all.

From here on Greg hill came to the party and started to be of great value, Lets not forget that the Morley rink were playing well but Lance Strahan was on fire and no matter what the situation he either drew, drove or played a mid range shot to secure the end. At the end of the 10th end the rink lead 16/10.

Lance Strahan (pictured) Played a blinder, played every shot in the book with aplomb, would have given him a 10 but for dropping his chalk on the 9th end

From around this end Peter Healy, who was losing the battle with Bill Urquhart started to find consistency and started to pile them on the jack and Daniel Wood who also was having his share of problems found his range and played a telling game from here. In the meantime The Morley Players were still hanging in there but after having so many shots taken from them suddenly found with the Bulls leader and third playing far better they were under much more pressure

The added support to Lance, who was still playing brilliantly and Greg "Mountain" Hill, also was playing so well as a two for the second day in a row, the score shot away for the Bulls to lead 27/10 on the 15th end.

This was the only lapse by Morley where they lost in each position at the same time.
Bill Urquhart played a good game while Murray Robinson tho beaten in his position played many fine bowls. Bruce Walter was busy and was in the picture. John Armstrong who played many good bowls was powerless to stop Lance .

By now the fire had gone out of the game and the last 6 ends saw Morley pick up 5 shots against Bedfords 2.

The star of this game was undoubtedly Lance Strahan who rarely wasted a bowl and when you think about it Last season he won only 2 games for the season. So he is now 2/0 and playing state level bowls.

How I voted -- I do mark the card from end 1 to end 21 and it really tells me the picture. Any Morley player could have got the third vote but over all the best were,

3. Lance Strahan 2. Greg Hill, 1.Bruce Walter.

P.Harris (skip), S.Shaw, N.Minchin, J.Carlson-------------------25
R. Urquhart , J. Heiden, J. Manning, A. Elmer --------------------14

Pieter Harris has his boys were well drilled, they were leading 15/1 on the 8th end, 20/2 on the 11th end. For the next 10 ends they could only manage to get another 5 shots, while Robbie Urquhart picked up 12 shots.

S.Bainbridge (skip), B.Gartrell,   M.Lemos, K.Burke--------------24
P. Aungier (skip) J Sheridan , A. Barron, M. Callcott -------------11

The whole Stu Bainbridge rink played very well to shut out any chance of a Morley victory. Kevin Burke led well Mel Lemos had a great day, Barry Gartrell had a great weekend of bowls and Stu Bainbridge played an excellent game as skipper and looks to be in for a very good season.
The Morley boys were all at sea and will have to lift their game if they are to be able to enjoy Saturday pennants

The Jones Boy (skip), C.Graybrook, Paul Hunter, V.Colley------18
W. Neilson , G. Grieve, B. Driscoll, B. Moyle
-----------------------18

A great game and a terrific dual between the leaders Vaughan Colley and Brad Moyle, a new comer to the Premier league and previously played for Sportsmans. Both boys went hammer and tongs at one another, top class leading from both boys.
The Jones boy was in peak form with many brilliant bowls for Bedford but had to contend with Wayne Neilson, who by his own words had a bad first half of the game, and a great second half where his driving saved many big scores going against him, he was able to hold out the Bedford boys by continually changing the head around and forced a draw in a great game.
