The Bedford Bulls cruise to a mammoth win against a lacklustre Cambridge Knights who were so disappointing today
Warning signs emerged when the Knights were able to win on only two rinks against Morley in the first round.
Melville Magic got hold of Kalamunda and most would have selected this to be the result. Kalamunda are now more than aware if they wish to be succesful and what is required in the Premier League
Osborne Park Have a win against Morley and this is what was expected, what was unexpected was the the dismal performance of Morley. This is not good for the health of the competition to see such one sided victories.

The Wanneroo Express are finding it hard to get respect from the tipsters with their no name team, have repeated last years performance when they rolled the mighty Cockburn in the same fixture last year.

The Powerhouse fire up and show some grit to record their first win this season against Leeming.

Rink wins * draw

Bedford Bulls (8 ) DEFCambridge (0) ......100/54

The Jones Boy (skip), C.Graybrook, Paul Hunter, V.Colley------29
S.Edmonds (skip) C.Lander,G.Kane, C.McKenna-----------------15

This was the game I watched when I arrived at Cambridge 2 ends into the contest. It was on rink 1 the closest game to me.
After 5 ends both sides were still feeling their way along. There was a strong breeze blowing and it was difficult for players bowling into the wind to find the correct weight. Down wind was a lot easier. From the fifth end when the score was 2-3 in favour of Scotty Edmonds, there was a change where the Bulls leader Vaughan Colley started to establish his ascendency in his position and by the 9th end the Bulls led 12-3.

--------------------All eys on this important bowl from The Jones Boy

------------

------L/R: Chris McKenna, Scotty Edmonds, Chris Lander and Cliff Graybrook.

The second for Cambridge, Greg Kane was very consistent but always playing to a losing head, while Chris Lander was probably the most consistent player for Cambridge, doing many good things only to see them unravelled by the Jones Boy..
I cant recall Scotty Edmonds being up on the crossover very often at all, he was having a hard day at the office
Some one for Bedford was always doing something, Paul Hunter who had taken some time to find his range came good around halfway thru the game and really needed to because Greg Kane was on top at this point of time.
The Jones Boy was playing well and when he had to operate he did so but not as good as he usually is. The score reached 19-6 on the 15th end and it looked all over, and in the blink of an eye Cambridge picked up a 2,5, 2. One of those conversions was a pearler from Scotty who was 2 down and turned it into a five with two brilliant bowls. That was the end of the game because Bedford won the next three ends to win 29-15.

A Cliff Graybrook bowl on a long end, after the busy Chris Lander had put the jack in the well right near the boundary peg

It was a hard game to select the best three players because of the good game Greg Kane was playing and he is a very good second. but there was no doubt over the distance that the best players were

3. Vaughan Colley. 2. The Jones Boy 1.Chris Lander

L.Strahan (skip), D.Wood,  G.Hill,  P.Healy-------------------29
B.Katunarich (skip) M.McGann, W.Maher, D.Irvin.----------10

Lance Strahan has the eye of the tiger, and it is really showing as he continues to play a sensational brand of bowls. Also Greg Hill could almost be the recruit of the year. The "Mountain" has sizzled since his debut. He arrived unheralded at Bedford with no favours asked or expected. Mal Dempsey did say to Sherro" you've got a goodin there for Bedford"
Peter Healy and Daniel Wood played very well in this game to help bury Brian Katunarich's rink.

Lance's rink was leading 12-3 on the 8th end and on the 16th end led 19-8 then to run right away to win 29-10 to record the rinks 3rd win in three games.

Alarm bells have to be ringing for the Knights as this rink has had yet another disappointing loss.

Best for Cambridge was Wayne Maher

P.Harris (skip), S.Shaw, N.Minchin, J.Carlson-------------------18
T.Smallacombe(skip) N.Lewis, B.Kiely, N.Bolton----------------13

Another great contest where the Bedford front three did very well today while Pieter Harris didn't reach the heights of last week but still played very well. His side of Shane Shaw, Neil Minchin and John Carlsen combined very well to help set up the win.
Any rink skippered by the very reliable Trystan Smallacombe has a huge chance of taking home the point. Pieter Harris is one skip you don't want to meet in your quest for any point.
After 5 ends the Bulls were leading 7-0 only to see that lead evaporate very quickly for the score to be level at 7-7 on the 9th end.
From here on it was Bedford doing the better to lead 17-9 on the 17th end and looked to have the what they came for, that is the way it finished 18-13 for Pieter Harris.
All played their part in this win while Trystan Smallacombe was best for Cambridge.

S.Bainbridge (skip), B.Gartrell,   M.Lemos, K.Burke--------------24
R. Stockton (skip) A.Heal,T.Walsh,H.Christensen--- - -- - ------16

I am hoping that I might get to see this rink in action soon. They have won three games on the trot. After leading 8/5 on the 6th end it was a tight tussle and remained so till the 12th end where the score was 16/10. The Bulls sprinted away to lead 23/11 on the 17th and finally take the game 24/16
All players contributed for the Bulls. Stu Bainbridge is getting the best out of his rink and in this game performed when the chips were down.

SUNDAY 5TH NOVEMBER

Geoff Ellis (skip), Ron Bates, Barry Parmenter, Sean Wright---------------16
D. Brown (Skip), M. Zusman,J. Ravilich, P. Novak----------------------------15

The Roo Boys do the job again and take the big end of the points back home. Neville Stevens suffered his first loss as skipper to the unbeaten Steve Srhoy.
The Wanneroo Wizard, Clive Adams, and his rink which has a new front end, Simon Alden playing his first game as did former Osborne Park leader, Mike Golding, both played very well for the wizard to give a great start for the rink and helped really carve up Gary Caberry's rink.
When the overall aggregate was up for grabs very near towards the end of the game, Clive and his boys boys picked up a huge, huge 8 and this had a bearing on the result because the winning margin for the aggregate was 4 shots.
Geoff Ellis and his boys won by one shot against one of the hardest rinks to beat in the competition by one shot, that of Daniel Brown.
Russell Hughes broke thru for his first win of the season, rolling the Stein Davies rink by 2 shots. This is the first loss for Stein and his rink

Melville (8) DEF Kalamunda (0) 93/44

N.Payne (skip) G.Payne-P.Coyle-F.Anderson----------------------.------.10

Jon Sharp,Steve Hughes Roger Barns and John Birch were in total control with a huge win over steady Ric Eddy and remain unbeaten 3 games into the season. This is a great start for Sharpy.

Roger Barns (pictured) has been more than a handy player for Melville is enjoying his game as a two for Sharpy

Rhett Butler and his boys have hit top form to defeat Neil Payne by a surprisingly convincing margin.
Ant Provost and the rink have continued on their merry way with another whopping winning margin and also remain undefeated
Top class skipper Neale Griffin has recorded another win remains unbeaten after beating the well performed rink of Cameron Girvan who lost his first game of the season
All in all this result shows a there is a big difference between the top and Bottom sides, the score line of 44 shots for an afternoons work for Kalamunda is disappointing.
Next week Melville face their first big test when they take on the bench mark of the competition Cockburn, Sherro just cant wait for next week to come

Doubleview (7) DEF Leeming (1) ............102/72

The Powerhouse have broken thru for their first win of the season. The return of Robbie Ball saw his rink put Jimbo Conner who was playing his first game as skip in the Premier league thru the wringer winning comfortably 29/11
The big Kat and his boys have continued on their merry way with another telling victory, beating the winless Jeff Richards 29/17
Kyle McIlroy and his boys won their first game of the season, defeating the hard to beat rink of Danny Comrie by 4 shots.
W. Heldt (skip) B. West, J. Conner, G. Strahan have done very well this season so far with two wins for Leeming in three games winning 25/21.
Prickles Thorn and his rink have yet to savior the taste of victory so far this season lost by a small margin and changes might be made for this rink soon.

Osborne Park (8) DEF Morley (0)..........................101/41

J. Armstrong (skip), B. Walter, M. Robinson, B. Urquhart -------------12

Osborne Park have crushed Morley in a very lopsided contest and there cant be much joy for any club that can go out and after an afternoon's work and come home with only 41 shots to show for the effort, lets hope that they can recover from this loss.
John Goddard had a huge win at the expense of Wayne Neilson 31/6 and it would seem that they had total domination
Gary Caffell smashed Robbie Urquharts rink by the same margin 35/9
The resistance that came from Morley was from Peter Aungier who lost by 4 shots to Daniel Trewhella, and that was against Daniel Trewhella rink who had there first win for the season.
John Armstrong and his rink did very well to lose by 4 shots to Bill Galloway. John Armstrong and his boys played very well last week against Bedford and they have followed up here with a good performance
Osborne Park would be happy to take the points
