Bedford 1958/2003

This is a small summation of the history of the Bedford Bowling club.

Today the Bedford Bowilng Club has a membership of 220 men and 92 women. 1988 saw the club membership at 600, and a waiting list of 50, such was the popularity of playing bowls. Due to the liquor licensing laws, the club facilities could only allow 600 members. The men have six divisions comprising of One White, One Blue, TwoBlue, Two Gold, Four purple and Four White..

The first move toward formation of the club was made by a small group of local residents consisting of Messrs. H Scott, C. Geggie, M. Scott and J. McKenzie who had made an approach to the bayswater road board early in 1958 for an allocation of land and assistance in its improvements and developements.

This Picture of the club house was taken in the early sixties and how different it looks now.
