Preview round three Blue North
November 2, 2006
Cambridge v Morley
Morley are currently lions at home however they will need to improve on their
first away game and will be tested on the carpet.
Jim Gupanis (pictured) Still loves his bowls and what great player he has been
over the years
On the other hand Cambridge
showed little last week, losing both games of the double header. They will
need their experienced skippers, Jimmy Gupanis, Keith Cannon and John Dawson
to show the way.
Selection: Morley
Sorrento v Wanneroo
A very easy win first up at home followed by a one shot loss away to current
top spot holders Bassendean is encouraging form for Sorrento. Wanneroo had
a reversal of form last weekend and consequently Sorrento may have the edge
at home, which is in contrast to my predicted finishing order. John Hammond
and Neil Brown started the season in scintillating form for Sorrento.
Selection:
Sorrento
Doubleview v Bedford
Doubleview’s form was inconsistent last weekend and Bedford was good at home but losers away. Eddie Johnson, whose rink won both games, is unavailable and Ken Screech will be skippering.
The Bedford skippers Peter Hunter, Adi Meyer, Dave Scott and Brian Tupper will all need to fire to be victorious playing away.
Bomber Haring’s rink of Kevin Stevens, Don Langdon and Blake Heldt, has both experience and talent and commenced the season in outstanding form. They could carry the View to victory with some support particularly from John Nicholls rink, which won ten games and drew one last season, including two big wins opposed to the Bulls.
Selection: Doubleview
North Beach v Osborne Park
Osborne Park’s opening game was highlighted by big wins to Doug Eaton and Rance
Dewson and they followed up with a one shot victory against Doubleview. They
will be keen to keep the momentum going and will be looking for every possible
point opposed to North Beach. The Beach lost their first round at home and this
fate will probably befall them again despite their improved showing away to Innaloo.
Selection: Osborne Park
Bassendean v Innaloo
Justin Opie, Brian Fullagar and skipper Marcel Heurer started with big wins
and Bassendean sit on top of the ladder. Innaloo, after a strong showing
against Doubleview (away) with good wins to Greg Young and Cyril Spinks,
fell away on the Sunday at home to North Beach, failing to score. Bassendean
at home in successive games, has the opportunity to maintain top position
and will hardly let that slip. Similar to Osborne Park, every point will
be valuable.
Selection: Bassendean
N.B.
I would like to be able to use Christian games of all players mentioned,
so if any clubs would like to furnish their team lists to Sherro, it would
be appreciated.
