Preview 1 Blue North Round 4.
Bedford (9 Points) v North Beach (15
Points)
A most important game for Bedford if they are to keep in touch with the
leaders. North Beach surprised with their win against Osborne Park and they appear
to have overcome player losses.
With the home green advantage and the importance
of this game, Bedford has every reason to win, or face the consequences.
Selection:
Bedford
Osborne Park (15½) v Bassendean (21)
Again a huge game so early in the season, as only the top point scorer earns promotion.
The 1 Blue North leading skipper, Osborne Park’s Doug Eaton with three wins and plus 30 shots, could have a great game if he draws Marcel Heurer, who with three wins and plus 18, is in good form for Bassendean.
Neither team was over impressive last week and Osborne Park will be desperate to win and inflict upon Bassendean their first loss.
Selection: Osborne Park
Morley
(10½) v Doubleview (15)
Morley was very ordinary away again and will be pleased to return home. With their form a little more consistent and all rinks now performing evenly, Doubleview could snatch a narrow victory.
Russell Tyrrell (pictured) enjoying his role of leading for Ken Screech
Stan Curtis, John Nicholls and Ken Screech opened their winning account and
will be confident. Skipper A Haley has won all three games for Morley and
will be looking for points from other rinks.
Selection: Doubleview
Wanneroo (7) v Cambridge (9)
Wanneroo has had nil points for the last two rounds played away. 44 shots last
week was a miserable return for four rinks. Deryk Bowen is one due to show
some form, as is Neville Costello after last week.
Cambridge performed at home
last round for their first victory with John Dawson and Keith Cannon recording
good wins. The loser of this game will need to face the reality that demotion
may be beckoning.
Selection: Wanneroo
Sorrento (16) v Innaloo (3)
With a massive 152% already, and the third home game in four weeks, Sorrento
will be the hottest of favourites and anything less than eight points will
be disappointing.
Neil Adams (3 wins) and John Hammond may be pot hunting!
Rumour has it that the one strong rink skippered by Greg Young is being split.
If this is the case, their only hope for a point is lessened.
To prove how
cruel bowls can be, this is Innaloo’s
third game away.
Selection: Sorrento
