Preview round Eight One Blue North

December 14, 2006
Preview 1 Blue North Round 8.

Doubleview (25½) v North Beach (25½)

If Doubleview loses this home game, they can start a controlled panic, as they‘ll have only four home games left for the season (including Bassendean) and they haven’t won an away game yet.
Their leading skips of least season, Bomber Haring and Nicho, both have a 2 – 5 record with Nicho down 44 shots.

John Coles of North Beach has five wins with a +36 and is the best-credentialed skipper in this game. Wanneroo should beat Innaloo, placing the loser of this game very close to relegation zone.

Selection: Doubleview

Cambridge (24½) v Bassendean (46)
Bassendean’s fast home greens should stand them in good stead for a game on the carpet. I repeat my one concern for Bassendean is the uneven spread of strength with two rinks still having more shots against than for, this in a team unbeaten for seven games.

Generally when selecting against Cambridge I do a ‘Sherro’ and inspire them to great heights. Justin’s strengthened rink is close to unbeatable at the moment – that might be further inspiration to the Cambridge skip who draws him.

Selection: Bassendean

Sorrento (44) v Bedford (28)

Sorrento can’t afford any slip up and they just scraped in against Doubleview albeit without their top skip Neil Adams.

Bedford need to be brought before the stewards after their reversal of form last week. Shane Shaw informs me (via Sherro) that Bedford have reached their fork in the road and there will be bucketsful of points for them in future. They weren’t his exact words, just a little poetic license.

If I’m wrong with my selection, I’ll be waiting for your relayed message Shane and will include it in the review.

Selection: Sorrento

Morley (32½) v Osborne Park (25½)

Osborne Park finished second in this colour last season and were my tip for promotion, which is now a forlorn hope. Their effort last week with no points at home against the third bottom side would rank as their worst performance.

Morley weren’t all that convincing, however their undefeated skipper Haley had that role in the Premier division and wasn’t available.

The Parks skips have been unchanged and some of their stats aren’t that bad, however Morley manage to win more often.

Selection: Morley

Wanneroo (18½) v Innaloo (12)

The Roo’s are in trouble, however their effort opposed to Bassendean away was commendable.
Echo Widermanski could do with some support from the other rinks. Tony Losinjanin has two wins and plus 26 shots in his last two games and may pose a problem for the Roo’s.
If Wanneroo were to lose they would join Innaloo as the odds on favourites for demotion.

Selection: Wanneroo
