Preview round Nine One Blue North
January 3, 2007
Preview 1 Blue North Round 9.
Bedford (28 pts) v Morley (33 Pts)
Morley were disappointing last game losing comprehensively at home to Osborne
Park. Bedford on the other hand won two rinks away to second placed Sorrento
and they have more incentive to win at home as currently 3½ points ahead
of the second bottom side is a dangerous location.
Selection: Bedford
Osborne Park (33) v Wanneroo (24½)
The Park were very impressive with a 28 shot victory and 7½ points away to Morley whilst Wanneroo at home to Innaloo lost on two rinks.
Will Barry Parmenter return to 1 Red after his 30 shot win or is he in 1 Blue North to help fend off relegation?
Bill Boyd Osborne Park (pictured) Bill has been and still is a great lead or
two for the Saints
One would imagine defending Red champions Wanneroo would select their strongest team at all times for the Premier Division. They only need cast their mind back to Yokine’s backfiring tactics of the 03/04 season, when they attempted to hold their 1 Blue and missed the final four in Red by the barest margin (½ Point) and lost their 1 Blue anyway.
Selection: Osborne Park
Bassendean (53) v Doubleview (32)
The challenge for Bassendean is to score all eight points in a game, something second placed (by 3 points) Sorrento has done twice.
Justin Opie and Marcel Heurer are match winners, however the other two rinks combine for 7 wins, 9 losses and minus 11 shots.
Doubleview have been strengthened (on paper) this season, however the rinks of
Stan Curtis and Eddie Johnson are the only good performers and Stan loses Gary
Nelson to 1 Red this week.
Wayne Markham Doubleview (pictured) been a very handy player for Doubleview over
the years
A loss by the View will leave them in a precarious
position at the conclusion of the first round with regard to demotion.
Selection:
Bassendean
Innaloo (14) v Cambridge (25½)
Innaloo have played above my expectations with an aggregate win and ten rink wins, however their last loss had several unhappy players, even though they won on two rinks.
Will
there be player losses?
Cambridge will know how imperative a win with as many points as possible is to keep their head above water in regard to relegation.
Their form in the last three games has been consistent.
Selection: Cambridge.
North Beach (27) v Sorrento (50)
The Beach have lost their last two home games and they will be playing host to Sorrento who can’t allow Bassendean to sneak any further ahead.
John Coles has performed grandly for North Beach but has lacked support whilst Sorrento, led by the unbeaten Neil Adams, have strength over all
Selection: Sorrento
