REVIEW OF ROUND 11--ONE BLUE NORTH

January 22, 2007

Sorrento 88 (8) d Bassendean 74 (0)

John Brown’s body is alive and well as is the 1 Blue North competition for promotion to 1 White. All rinks were tight, however Sorrento held sway on all of them with John Brown’s rink being best with +5 shots against the previously all-conquering Justin Opie rink.
Neil Adams continued his unbeaten season with 3 shots to spare over Marcel Heurer’s well-performed rink.

Sorrento have a decided % advantage in case of tied points at seasons end and apart from that every rink win may carry importance in the struggle to finish on top.
When the last bowl has been delivered in the qualifying rounds, the season will be over as promotion and demotions will have been decided

Doubleview 95 (7) d Osborne Park 80 (1)

The rinks of Nicholls and Haring finally carried the day for Doubleview after having a very lean season.
Blake Heldt was missing again and rumour has it he may be looking elsewhere next season.
Rance Dewson recorded the Park’s point opposed to Stan Curtis whose rink has been performing well.

North Beach 92 (7½) d Innaloo 60 ( ½)

First game skipper, Michael Murray brought Bill Swarbrick back to earth after his big win last week, defeating him 25/7. A most auspicious start for Michael and he may prove a saviour for the Beach in their struggle to remain in 1 Blue North.
Former Doubleview lead, Andrew Tennant continues to impress for Innaloo, sharing the rink points with Merv Potter.

Bedford 86 (6) d Cambridge 67 (2)

A big 21 shot win to skipper Shane Nunan set up the game for Bedford as two other rinks were drawn. The Bulls now appear set to remain in the colour and their only task left is probably to fight with the View to qualify for the finals.

Cambridge with only 3 games left at home are well and truly in a precarious situation currently being second last.

Wanneroo 99 (7) d Morley 65 (1)

Consecutive wins have lifted the Roos to 7th but still only 3 points clear of demotion territory. Alan Haley recorded win number 8 and scored Morley’s only point. With Jim Savage missing, he has a huge load and will need some assistance if Morley are to avoid demotion.

Echo Windermanski was again the stand out skipper for Wanneroo winning by 19 shots.
