Review One Blue North Round 4

Bedford 71 (7) d North Beach 69 (1)

Solid wins to David Scott and Peter Hunter gave Bedford an important 2 shot win to keep their hopes alive.

North Beach again performed well and skipper Devenish, who had previously played as a third, took his rink to an outstanding victory against Adi Meyer to nearly steal the aggregate.

Bassendean 94 (6) d Osborne Park 93 (2)
Marcel Heruer racked up his 4th straight victory to give Bassendean a crucial 1 shot win and maintain their top place.

Doug Eaton also remained undefeated for Osborne Park. This is the second occasion Bassendean has won by a single shot, so they may be called lucky, but then again you make your own luck.

The following is an eyewitness report of the game.

What a cracker of a game with Osborne Park holding the aggregate for 75% of the game and Basso snatching the win when it counted on the 84th end.

John Lynch 3 down trailing the jack with his last bowl to hold 1 shot with 1 bowl to come from Keith Guelfi to convert, but to no avail.
At the same time Marcel’s rink managed to hold 2 shots to win the aggregate by 1shot.
Justin Opie proved why he is a prize recruit, playing brilliant bowls when the chips were down. He scored half his team's score on his own with outstanding conversions and deft drawing.

Report from the Observer's Observer.

Morley 88 (7) d Doubleview 66 (1)

Morley have scored 15 of their 17 ½ points at home however, skipper A Haley with four straight wins has shown his rink is the only one to perform away.
John Nicholls recorded his second straight victory to be the View’s only winner on the day.
Both these teams will need to lift their rating if they are to aspire to top place.

Wanneroo 90 (6) d Cambridge 70 (2)

A home victory to Wanneroo, thanks to a 24 shot margin by Echo Widermanski and his rink.
Jim Gupanis and Keith Cannon had sound wins for Cambridge.
The task set for these two sides is to avoid relegation, as they are not that impressive at this early stage of the season, being in 8th and 9th place.

Sorrento 111 (8) d Innaloo 60 (0)
An expected result and it is a pity there is one easy beat team in this division.
John Hammond recorded a 24 shot victory against Innaloo’s previously best rink of Greg Young whose third Andrew Tennant was given his own rink
