Review One Blue North Round 6
North Beach 82 (6½) d Wanneroo 77 (1½)
An excellent effort by North Beach away and once again John Coles’ rink
was the difference. Echo Widermanski led the only winning Wanneroo rink and
they now find themselves second last.
Max Kitto (pictured) has been a great player in years past,
and is one of the most popular players to have played the game.
Bassendean 93 (6) d Morley 88 (2)
Morley took Bassendean down to the wire and got to within 5 shots of the
agg, if not for the brilliant team effort of Justin opie's rink of Steve Black
Dean Robertson + Craig Greenhalgh winning 38
to 8 against Tom Lindsays rink, with a + 30 shots win carried
the day as Marcel Heurer’s winning
run finally came to an end going down to a former Bassendean player and skipper,
Jim Savage.
Justin Opie ( pictured) Has been a great recruit for Bassendean
and leading by example
Morley’s A Haley had his sixth straight win by a 21 shot margin against
the normally hard to beat John Lynch, to be the leading skipper in 1 Blue North
but even his great effort fell just short for Morley.
Add to that, Bassendean's first 3 divisions out of 4 divisions are undefeated
and on top of their divisions which is an effort at this stage would
be close to a record if not a record. The club is on top of the world as they
say
Cambridge 88 (6½) d Doubleview
85 (1½)
Keith Cannon recorded a 17 shot victory to give Bomber Harring and his rink their
fourth successive loss.
Stan Curtis again was the best for Doubleview, however the three shot aggregate
loss virtually ends their promotion chances and now they join Cambridge and others
in a fight for survival or a meaningless finals play off.
Sorrento 88 (7) d Osborne Park 64 (1)
A 17 shot win by Neil Brown and the still undefeated Neil Adams, winning against
the previously undefeated Doug Eaton, ensured a comfortable victory for Sorrento,
leaving them only two points off the lead.
Osborne Park meanwhile join the mob of seven teams who are long odds to finish
in top position.
Innaloo 91 (6) d Bedford 82 (2)
Innaloo playing away and their leading skipper Greg
Young called it a day yet they still won. Keith Hough had Dean Pasalich playing
as his third. The evergreen Bill Swarbrick romped home to give Innaloo their
first win. Bedford has only one mission remaining this season and that is to
avoid relegation.
