Review One Blue North Round 8

Doubleview 82 (6˝) d North Beach 71 (1˝)
Doubleview’s largest win of the season (11 shots) again on the back of the rink of Stan Curtis with a 16 shot margin.

John Coles with his 5th win for North Beach was their best once more. Apart from these two rinks, neither club has much to enthuse about.

Bassendean 85 (7) d Cambridge 77 (1)
Bassendean continue their unbeaten run with Keith Cannon giving Justin Opie a tight game, whilst Gary Hawkes triumphed for Cambridge. Bassendean will enjoy Christmas but will need to bear in mind they had two one shot winning margins and their percentage is inferior to Sorrento.
Bassendean's strength gets them over the line 7/1 at Cambrige who have lost 3 of their home games this season.

Marcel's rink was the talking point being 23/9 down at one stage and won 27/24 which was the difference between winning the agg and losing the agg.
John lynch's rink returned to the winners circle.

A couragous effort by cambridge, close but no cigar. I think the narrow loss to the top side will give them a lot of confidence to finish the season off in good stead.
By the way I notice that Bassendeans top three sides are now 8 from 8. It must be one of two things, there must something in the beer lines or they all have understanding wifes.

I witnessed a great bit of great manners by the Basso boys on Saturday. Marcel, just picked up a good 7 late in the game to bring the Basso bask into the game. This was the divining moment in the game. Basso, instead of yelling out 7 and making a song and dance about the pick up.

The 3 spot quietly held his hands to his chest and singled 7. To me this was a great gesture of sportsmanship.
Every one who has played bowls has suffered from dropping a number, and remembers how it feels. A few of the other clubs could learn from this great example of manners.

Sorrento 89 (6) d Bedford 74 (2)
The rinks were split and the two best skippers from Sorrento, Neil Adams and Neil Brown, paved the way for the comfortable margin.
Brian Tupper and Dave Scott both had winning rinks away against good opponents, which augers well for Bedford to steer clear of the relegation area.

Shane Shaw report for Bedford
Mate hard day at the office today. Beaten by a very good side. They got the jump on us early and led by nearly 10 and we got it back with some grit and determination to 13 all, but the problem was that we would change over and I had to try and save the heads a lot and eventually had to miss and we dropped a 5 on the 16th end I think and the last end 10 down we lost another 5 trying to get a score.
At the end of the match I can only say that the Sorrento guys played very well and well done Neil Adams and the boys. Congradulations to the green keeper for a wonderful green also.

Osborne Park 96 (7˝) d Morley 68 ( ˝ )

A couple of new skips for the Park with Paul Pendergast, who had previously been unavailable for 1 Red, knocking off the previously undefeated Alan Haley by 1 shot.

Rance Dewson recorded an 18 shot win. A timely form reversal by Osborne Park ending any Morley hopes for higher honours.

Wanneroo 116 (6) d Innaloo 83 (2)

Meat packs galore here, only one shy of 200 shots being recorded. Barry Parmenter gave his previous club a reminder of his ability with a 30 shot win and the ever-reliable Echo Windermanski had a 23 shot winning margin.
Bill Swarbrick and Andrew Tennant both led their rinks to victory.
