Wanneroo showed their class today when they overwhelmed the Bulls with an outstanding game winning 91/63. It was a perfect day to play bowls and the green was in pretty good nick with good pace.
Wanneroo jumped out of the blocks and had the Bulls at their mercy from the start. Geoff Ellis who played a superb game has wonderful support as they pounded Stu Bainbridge's rink.
Barry Gartrell and his rink got away to a flyer then capitulated to Clive Adams's rink as the game wore on
Pieter Harris came from a long way back to win against Reg Humphreyson
Stein Davies and rink fought tooth and nail to beat the mighty Jones Boy in a classic contest.

Wanneroo (7 ) beatBedford (1) ..........91/ 63..
A telling victory to the Wanneroo Express as they defeat Bedford easily. Bedford were disappointing today against a committed Wanneroo Express who were impressive in their win.
I guess it is back to the drawing board for Bedford and they will have to reassess their playing list.

The Jones Boy { skip}, Bill Richardson , Paul Hunter, P. Hunter -----13

This was a hard game for both sides who are a couple of the best going around in the competition. It was a high standard game with all players contributing to the contest. Peter Hunter was leading very well as was Derrick Griffen with little between the two. It was nip and tuck to be 11/12 14th end and it was a great contest. Both skips were hard at it and playing very well however things did change from this end on and it was Stein Davies who got the upper hand with a touch of luck and some terrific bowls. They scooted away to win in a very good standard game

Reg Humphreyson {skip}, G.Adamini. G. White, K. Boswell .........19
P. Harris {skip} L. Strahan, M.Illich, K. Manton.............................20

What a sensational game of bowls. Reg and his boys got away to a fantastic start with each player for Reg doing the job and of course Reg played some magic bowls when he was down, in fact he rarely played a bad bowl. John Carlsen was leading very well but it made no difference to Wanneroo as they built up a lead of 14/2 winning 8 of the first 10 ends and saying catch us if you can, man.
From here on things got better for Pieter Harris who had played some very big bowls to keep the scoreline getting out of hand. Inch by inch they clawed their way back as Reg Missed what he was getting earlier in the game. Then suddenly a big 6 on the on the 18th end saw Pieter hit the front and lead 19/16 and then win 20/19

WOW!!! What a fantastic game of bowls, Geoff Ellis was superb, Ron Bates brilliant, Ted Alden solid, S. Wright solid. These boys bowled out of this world, when the heads were tight they found the room to still pile them on the jack. Draw power was the name of the game for the rink and they careered away to lead 16/2 on the 10th end and as they looked at the rink along side of them they saw Greg Humphryson leading 14/2. What a pleasant sight and they kept on keeping on to lead 23/6 on the 15th end. The front end for bedford was battling on and was probably 40/60. The Bedford backend just could not cope with the constant pressure applied by Ron Bates and Geoff Ellis, both players has terrific weight control and never threw their bowls away with badly weighted shots as did Bedford on occasions
It was a brilliant display of weight control and skill from Geoff Ellis and his boys.

Barry Gatrell's rink got away to a very good start with Keith Manton leading very well and making it easy for the rink. It was a high standard game and the scores at 11/5 didn't reflect how good Clive's team was also playing. Disaster struck for Bedford when they were two down on the 12th end and a wayward drive from Barry Gartrell saw him go down 7 shots and surrender the hard fought lead. from here on it was the Wanneroo Wizard who played many, many big bowls and was playing close the best he can.
Clive and his boys at 14/14 on the 14th end just played better and better as the game wore on winning 9 of the last ten ends,

Cockburn were far to good for Cambridge in the second semi-final winning 8/0 and appear to have a strangle hold on the premierhip trophy
Steve Srhoy's rink lead the way with a massive win over John Rainoldi's rink who were down 21/6 at one stage of the game

R. Hughes (skip) S. Cerff, A. Petchell, D. Penman---------.-----19
B. Katunarich (skip) M.McGann, G. Kane, W. Maher

Russell Hughes jumped off a plane after competing in the Australian open and made the adjustment of different green speeds to play a major role in the defeat of Brian Katunarich's rink. The game was a game of one per end on most occasiions and the main break came when Russell Hughes scores a 5 and that was the difference in the game.

G. Carberry (skip) P. Sardelic, J. Galipo, J. Beswick------------17
T Smallacombe (skip),S. Edmonds , N.Lewis,B. Kiely...............11
Gary Carberry had a huge task having to take on the top rink at Cambridge The game was a game of one per end on most occasions and the main break came when Gary Carberry scored a 5 on the 13th end to lead 13/7 and that was the difference in the game. They kept on winning the ends one shot at a time and the game slipped away from Trystan Smallacombe and his boys.

D. Brown (skip), M. Zusman, J. Ravilich, P. Novak-------------29
R. Stockton (skip), C. Lander, T. Walsh. H. Christensen.........20

A very hard fought affair with Ron Stockton leading 9/3 at the 8th end and looking good. On the 13th end he was leading 17/11. From here there was quite a change when they dropped a six to be 17/17 and that was the end for them as Daneol Brown's rink scored 29/20 for the remainder of the game
