The Cambridge Knights win A crunch game against Leeming and go to the top of
the table
Wanneroo do the impossible and shut down the PowerHouse . This was a very well
thought
out plan by Wanneroo and full marks to the Roo Boys for the
way they approached the game
Bedford Bulls keep on keeping on, they have brushed aside another hurdle along
the way forward, beating the Magic on Magic's home ground which was reported
to be a brilliant playing surface.
Cockburn are simply too good for Victoria Park who were on mission impossible
Cambridge have the aces in the pack, give Leeming the old heave ho and surge
to
the top of the table .
BULL QUOTE " Great win for us today, considering
it was Melville, their greens are Magic, we thought we could win, without being
smart about it.
always have to remember that Bowls is a funny game, and to take
the
majority
of
the
points
as
we
drive
forward
in
our
quest for Premiership Honours and beating them at their homeground
is
something, because they wanted the points as much as we wanted them " Bill
Richo.

A great victory for the Bulls considering that the Magic were at home and wanting
to make a statement, today showed that the the Bulls are the real deal, and
just might be that Melville are not. A loss today would have put the Bulls
into fourth Position. A win for Magic would have enhanced their chances of
a final four appearance.
The Jones Boy and his rink are the only undefeated rink in One Red.

Oh Boy !! The Jones Boy up against Jeff Hall spells one huge game, Jeff Hall
is no slouch and he and his rink have done a teriffic job for the Melville
Bowling club so far this season.
Who could win, who would provide the most pressure, the Jones Boy and his
rink slipped out to a handy 11/5 on the 9th end 13/7 on the 12th . 17/9 on
the 15th end and doing it on the bit. By the 20th end the Jones Boy led 19/13
and unfortunetly his rink dropped a six on the last end and drew the game.
which
kept his unbeaten run intact.

Pieter Harris up against Cameron Girvan the well performed rookie Magic
skip, promised plenty in the way of this contest. It started out well
for P.
H who shot out to a handy 11/2 lead at the 9th end. This was the signal
for Cameron's rink to steady and at the conclussion of the 14th end were
16/13 down and some hope of taking the game. From here on Pieter and the
boys put their best foot forward and went on to win 25/16 winning the
5 of the last seven ends.
Team effort for Bedford---
Best player for The the Magic was the leader Paul
Harbor.

Adrian Lee filling in for Skipper Colin Fleay and by the 7th end might have
wished for Colin to be available because the score was 6/14 down at the conclusion
of the 10th end, 9/20 down on the 15th end and on the 21st end the
final score 26/11 in favour of Stuart Bainbridge.

Jon Sharp and his rink were unfazed to be playing Lance Strahan who has been
disappointing in his role as skipper for Bedford since taking over from Barry
Gartrell. Jon Sharp who was brilliant in the State Pairs and a formidable opponent
was leading 7/1 on the 5th end. By the 14 th end Jon was leading 14/4, the
18th end saw the lead stretch to 18/7 and to finish off with a comprehensive
19/10 win.
Where to for Lance, who's stats are down and the move of him to play skipper
appears to be back firing somewhat at this early stage .
Best for Melville was second Roger Barns
Best for Bedford was third Barry Gartrell

The result went as expected but O.P managed only two rink wins. The rink of
John Goddard had a huge win against Ian Cooper 31/11 to set up the win.
Daniel Trewhella had a narrow win 15/14 playing Sid McCann who skippered a
rink for second time this season
Adrian Feltham and his rink continued on with the form from last week with
a convincing win against Bill Galloway 22/16. He might provide the answer
to some of the problems that the Doggies have in the skipperring dept.
Adrian Feltham (pictured) enjoying the challenge of the
skippers role, has plenty to smile about today

Cambridge (7) DEF Leeming (7)...............83/70...
Trystan Smallacombe and his rink of Scotty Edmonds, Nicky Lewis and Brian
Kiely gave Bruce Edwards a hiding to win 32/9 and set up the win for Cambridge.
Ron Stockton and his rink have continued on their merry way
with another win, this time at the expense of Leemings top rink of Rhett
Butler 23/15.
Brian Katunarich gets another win under his belt defeating the other top
Leeming rink of Anthony Provost 21/17
The good news for Leeming was a totally unexpected, and massive win by Wayne
Heldt, Danny Comrie,Wray and Brian Ford beating John Rainoldi 29/7. This
win should provide the impetus for Wayne and his rink to carry on to more
wins in the future.

Cockburn
(7) beat Victoria Park (7)..................82/71...
Cockburn win as we thought they would, Steve Srhoy, Glynn Vaughan, Ivan "SuperGlue"
Jakovich and Vassallio led the way with a convincing win against Steve Withers
25/16. While Joe Galipo with new recruit Gary Carberry in the side got hold
of the top V. P. rink of Rooster Wishart 23/13 to put the win for Cockburn
beyond doubt.
Two of the young guns Daniel Brown and Justin Opie fought out a great game
with Daniel getting home by one shot to win 20/19
Mark Simpson has continued on with last weeks great form (they
won 46/11) by taking the strong rink of Russell hughes to the cleaners with a solid
win
23/14.

Wanneroo (7) Doubleview (1)
...................86/

The Wanneroo Express have come away from Carlisle with a stunning win. No
tipster would have picked them to win this game. There was some thought put
into this game which saw the 16 players go over to Carlisle in the bus and
have a roll up for an hour in preparation for their most important game for
the
season followed by a lunch.
Earlier in the day Dennis Kat made a comment on 90.5 FM that Carlisle
greens held no fears for the Doubleview side. Maybe they should have done
the same thing as Wanneroo.
The Roo Boys with four wins on the board had to halt their losing run and
a loss would have put them out of the big picure. They have responded with
a lot of determination, and a lets roll up the sleeves and have a crack at
this attitude.
Wanneroo's leading rink, Geoff Ellis, Neville Stevens, Ted Alden, Sean
Wright led
the charge with a huge win against the PowerHouse's top rink of Robbie
Ball 24/7. Geoff Ellis who had to leave halfway thru in last weeks
game against the Bulls played a blinder in this game today for the Roo Boys.
Ted Alden, Wanneroo (pictured) enjoying the challenge
in One Red
What a time to come good for Ron Bates and his rink to record their third
win for the season, putting Kyle McIlroy's rink out of the picture with
a good win.
After getting away to a good start and lead 9/1, Kyle came back to lead
13/12. Up to this stage Ken Boswell was playing superbly for Ron Bates while
Kyle McIlroy was playing a very good game for the PowerHouse.
From here on the Roo Boys had to withstand plenty of pressure that was applied
to them and went on to record a fine win 21/14.
Clive Adams with a revamped rink came good also to add to the PowerHouse
woes defeating Pat Buller who had a new leader for todays game, Kevin Stevens.
The win was overdue for Clive who also won his third game for the season
and it was the right time for it happen. They won 21/14
John Slavich was the only winner today for the PowerHouse against the solid
rink of Stein Davies, leading 18/9 only to see that whittled away to be
20/20 with two ends to go. They won 24/20, and his stat sheet is looking
good.
